ANKR Is a great tool

Anonymous February 3, 2016

ANKR is fabulous. All you need to do is attach the ANKR to your keys, or your IPAD, or anything you want to keep track of. You register with ANKR and then, if you leave your items behind, the ANKR knows if you have been separated from the ANKR TRANSMITTER. It will then signal your IPHONE and let you know you left it or where it is. The ANKR is a valuable tool if you tend to leave things behind.

Great thing to have

meilin February 18, 2016

I was thinking of purchasing this product until I received the chance to evaluate one. It would make a great gift for someone who is always misplacing their keys or something else. It is very thin and would be easy to put in a pocket or any place keys are kept. Setup was very easy. You just go to their website from your mobile device. Install the ANKR app by visiting their website. You would then turn on the ANKR. Keeping the ANKR within 6 inches from your mobile device, you can then follow the directions in the app to complete. The directions are very limited as how to use the device. I had to try different things until I understood what it was telling me. You can leave your mobile device on continuously and it will tell you if you are leaving your keys behind. I decided to leave it off until I discovered I left my keys behind to save the battery on my phone. I decided to give a friend the ANKR to see if I could find her when we decided to go to different areas of a store. When I decided to find her, I was able to locate her right away. When you come close to your lost keys the ANKR it will make a sound but I found it was not loud enough to really hear especially if it was in a purse or pocket. I think possible it could be used to locate some who has Alzheimer and have gotten lost since it works via satellite. I definitely am going to purchase some of these for gifts since they are not that expensive. ANKRs come in the choice of two colors, black and white.

A very unique & interesting device!

thepitchpatch February 21, 2016

Hi folks, I would like to introduce you to the Ankr device. This little item can help you keep track of things that you might otherwise leave behind by mistake. This device, along with the iPhone application, alerts you when you are no longer in range. This is not a GPS tracking device, but should you accidently leave your keychain someplace, you will first be notified that the keys are no longer within range, plus you can retrace your route in order to locate your keys if you do lose them. Whenever you return to the place where you left them, you will be notified! A very handy device for those who tend to forget things. I've even placed my Ankr on my dogs collar to let me know when my dog strays out of the yard! He must think I've developed psychic abilities, as I can tell every time he tries to wander away from home! It also makes it easier to find him if he does stray. I highly recommend this device!

Recommended, IF …

If you have an iPhone, that is, and not an Android. This is a great little gadget with a lot of potential, but as of right now, you MUST have an iPhone in order to download the required app to make it work. Unfortunately, you don't find out that it won't work with an Android unless/until you either attempt to download the app from their website, which takes you to iTunes, or you read reviews such as this or the FAQs on the website (full disclosure needed!). So when it wouldn't work for me, I found on their website that “Android was late to support beacon technologies”, the Android app was under development and was anticipated to be released by the end of 2015; they have “functioning prototypes” of the app, but have not released them because of “poor customer experience”. Nevertheless, I plan to hold onto the ANKR in anticipation of its Android release. The idea behind it is excellent; you can keep track of easily misplaced items, such as keys, and the device will alert you when it is out of range of your iPhone and then tell you where the item is (for example, you left your wallet at the office), and even give you directions if needed. It appears to be easily set up and user-friendly, and the website's knowledge base is detailed, clear and comprehensive. The only problem I see with it – and perhaps this will be fixed, is that its range is limited to 250 feet. But in the meantime, I'll be waiting for the Android app.

Easy to use by anyone, including Grandma.

I received this item free of charge in exchange for an honest review. Ankr is a tracking device used to help you keep from losing your valuables. It is easy to set up by going to ankr.com or the apple store on your mobile phone and download the app. Turn on the ankr device by pressing the button on the back until you hear an audible beep. Launch the ankr app on your phone and make sure the ankr device is within 6 inches of your phone. Follow the instructions in the app to finish setting up your ANKR device. Attach the ANKR to whatever you want to keep track of like your purse, keys, suitcase or anything that it can be attached to. You now have the ability to track the device when misplaced. ANKR comes in two colors, black or white and is compact and does not take away from the look of the object you are tracking. ANKR can be set up on multiple phones so if you are tracking a lost purse and your phone is in it you may track with another phone that has been set up for ANKR. At this time ANKR can only be used with newer smart phones as I learned by trying to use an IPHONE 4 as a backup. ANKR cannot be used with a desktop computer but in checking with ANKR I am told that will be added in a few months. ANKR has a range of about 250 feet but if your ANKR gets separated from your phone it will show the last known location of your device. ANKR has the ability to let you know where it is by ringing your ANKR device thru the app on your phone. There are a few changes I would make like adding desktop computers or android tablets to the list of ways to track your device and I would increase the volume of the location ringer on ANKR.

Pretty Cool Idea

LoveGadgets10 March 6, 2016

What you get is a tiny fob-like device, think of a slightly oversized and somewhat thick guitar pick. It uses Bluetooth to pair with your iPhone. I am not sure if this will pair with any other device other than Apple devices. On the packaging it has the Apple Store listed. When your phone stops receiving a Bluetooth signal from the fob you get an alert on your phone. You use the map in the app to pinpoint where your phone was the last time it successfully communicated with the fob. The key point is, it does not track the current location of the fob, only where your phone was when they last connected. If someone walks away with my pocketbook, (which is where I've have my fob) all I'll be able to find out is where they took it from, not where it currently is. The app does allow me to identify safe zones, places where it's OK to walk away from the fob, in my case my pocketbook, and not receive an alert. For example, around my house. However, I get an alert on my phone whenever I wander from those safe zones and don't have my pocketbook. The Ankr system has worked reliably for me as described and I have every expectation it will work as well for you too.

Not a locator

joinks January 28, 2016

I was excited to get this for review, as I am always misplacing my keys. However, my excitement was short lived when I realized that it would only work with an iPad or iPhone, and unfortunately, both my tablet and phone are Androids. While some might say that there is an app that will allow it to be used on androids, I certainly haven't found one either in the google play store or at their web page app.ankr.com. Thankfully though, my daughter does have an iPhone, so we were able to install the app and test this product. It is fairly easy to install, the directions included are clear and easy to follow. It connects using Bluetooth. After set up, we attached it to her keys, and then we took the keys outside to see how well it worked. It managed to tell us where the keys were last, but, it is not a locator, it will not tell you where your keys are now. The audible signal is extremely hard to hear, and could not be heard across the room while the radio was on. However, once you are out of Bluetooth range, you are out of luck. This could be an excellent product with some fairly minor tweaks, which would include an app for androids, that would make this useful to the majority of smart phone users. It is not something I could highly recommend at this point in time.

Nice concept tracking device. But iOS ONLY!!

reviewMD February 6, 2016

Are you always forgetting your keys, wallet, purse? Well, Ankir might have the right solution for you...maybe. Please read on. When I first saw this product available for review, I thought the concept was very cool. So I requested this product. Upon arrival, you'll notice its small form - about the size of two quarters thickness of 2 - 3 quarters stacked. It has a metal ring that will allow you to attach it to a key chain, or anything else you want to "anchor down." The setup instruction was easy to follow (easy if you have an iOS device. More on this later. But let's assume you have an iOS device like iphone or ipad): 1) Install the ANKR appt from their website on your mobile device 2) Turn on the ANKR (press button on ANKR device) 3) Launch the mobile app and follow the directions. The directions are simple. It will detect your ANKR device and then you assign it to something like "purse", or "keys". That's how the app will know what it's "anchored to". Then it ask you to set a safe zone. For example, your home is a safe zone. And say the safe zone is about 50 yards in diameter. Then, if you leave your keys at home (that's attached to the ANKR), and walk out, once you go beyond the safe zone (you must have your iOS device on you for this to work), you will get a notice with a beep on the iOS device saying you left your key at home. Also, if you're home, you can "ping" your device and it will emit a sound so you can find your lost item. The connection is made by bluetooth, so your device need to have bluetooth on all the time. All in all, if you have an iphone or another ios device, this is helpful and works mostly fine. Now for some of the downsides: 1. You will have to have the iOS device on you for this to work if you are depending on this to tell you that you left your keys at home. If you don't carry your iOS device on you when you walk out, then you obviously won't be able to get notification. 2. The second big issue with this is it does NOT SUPPORT ANDROID. I put this in bold because I looked at the packaging and it does have an icon that states "Download on the App store". But no where on the package does it say, "Android OS not supported." In addition, when you open the little instruction booklet inside, step 1 says "Install the ANKR app by visiting app.ankr.com from your mobile device." Now when I read that, I assume it will support iOS ans well as Android. I could not find the app on the android app store and I thought I had typed it in wrong. After several more tries, I decided to try on ipad and it did work. I've used an Android phone for years and I'm really shocked there's not more obvious information on the package that will tell the buyer it does not support Android. I even went to the ANKR website and read through the forums. This is a frequent complaint (no Android support). ANKR had responded on forum that they expect by later 2015 Android will be supported. Well, it's 2016 and it still is not. There were a lot of unhappy customers who had the same experience. Some even bought multiple ANKR devices just to find out it doesn't work with Android. Anyhow, if you look at my past reviews, I've always been positive about most products. But I thought this was a poor communication to the buyers on this product. Therefore, I'm giving it 3 stars. I took 2 star off because of 1) no support for the rest of mobile devices that's non iOS and 2) poor communication to the buyers on that issue. Should they improve their documentation on their packaging, or they do later support other OS including Android, I would be happy to revise my rating to a 4 or 5. If you have iOS, you can give this a dry. If you don't have iOS device, then you want to stay away from this one for now.

Great concept not compatible with all smart phones

JoniShopsWalmart January 29, 2016

Wow! I really was looking forward to using ANKR 1, floppy disk. I ordered black since it would go with everything. The plan was to attach it to my travel/carry-on bag and eventually make two (2) more purchases for my laptop case/carry-on back and another bag for everyday use. The ANKR 1 is a fantastic concept that would prove useful in the age of technology, usability, synchronization and ubiquity. I am not sure if I misunderstood and/or misread the description prior to making my selection; however, I remained excited to use product until I visited the website and noticed I needed to go to iTunes. At first I thought that was just one of the sites, I could go the play store. I then decided to visit ANKR's site directly, selected download and received an incompatible message. Unfortunately, ANKR 1 is only available for Apple products such as iPhone, iPad and iWatch. Once the product expands it's compatibility to include Andriod smartphones, I will definitely execute my plan to have multiple trackers. All in all a great product, just need a compatible Apple product to use with it. Hopefully, there will be new versions and expansions in the next few months, I will also visit the site to stay abreast of innovations and updates.

ANKR QUESTIONABLE

doggies8 February 6, 2016

I have read the reviews on the ANKR and am surprised at the great reviews. I attached the ANKR to my purse. The button on my ANKR is hard to press to know if it's on or off. When I tested the sound of the alarm by pressing "ping" on my cell phone, I had to be very close to the purse to even hear it. So if the item the ANKR is attached to is very far away, you will not hear the ping. You will have to rely on your cell phone to guide you to the item. The video shows the cell phone sounding an alarm that is definitely loud enough. I have not yet tested that out to where the alarm goes off. Am not sure how far away from the item I have to be for the alarm to actually sound. I would love to attach an ANKR to each of our landline phones; however, I would have to attach the ANKR with velcro; but more importantly, it wouldn't work as there isn't enough distance from where the phones are missing and the cell phone signal to set off the alarm. It won't work for close missing items unless I'm missing something. But the concept is good; and, hopefully, I'll figure out how to make it work for me.
