I used it once, for about a hour and I am glad I got it. More powerful than I expected, works well with my portable generator in remote location, great width and not heavy for me. Turned heavily compacted dirt into loose soil. Two expected challenges: you need to manage power cord carefully, grass and weeds get stuck around the blades requiring periodic cleaning.
I've been renting a rototiller at my local rental shop for years for my vegetable garden. When I saw how reasonably priced this was at Walmart I decided to purchase it. It was cheaper than renting.Owning is always better than renting Plus I don't have to rush the machine back like when it's being rented I can take my time planting.. .
Nice little electric tiller. It will work great in small gardens. No need to worry about fuel or charging batteries...just plug it in! It came packed nice and was undamaged. Took all of 5 minutes to assemble without needing to look at the directions. If you want something easy to use for a small area without a lot of mechanical knowledge this would be a good option for you!
This.little electric tiller does.a.good job for these small price. I was looking for a small.tiller since I have access to a large 4ft one.... But it won't work in flower beds. I wanted to not have to do work on another gasoline engine so this was perfect. I put it together in 30 minutes, but if I had not been watching tv it would have been faster. I gave a call to 811 to mark my telephone line before I till since it is very shallow.
Setup was pretty easy overall, though the instructions weren't great. There are only a few pieces to assemble, mostly bolts with end caps, but you will need your own Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screws that secure the handle to the lower unit. Once running, it works as advertised for residential gardening. It spins well, but on raw ground or grass it mostly scrapes and slowly chews through roots, so expect to make a lot of passes to get truly worked soil. For softer dirt or previously used beds, it does a much better job breaking things up. Based on my experience, plan on spending close to an hour for about 10 sq ft if you want a nicely tilled plot. It's lightweight, easy to move around, and definitely fits the “budget electric tiller” category. If you're just getting started or working on small hobby plots, it does the job. If you're seasoned or planning to work larger areas, you'll probably want something more powerful.
This is an incredible machine. It accomplished much more than I expected. Easy to use. Powerful. Easy to clean. No oil, gasoline, or pull cord to deal with. I am very happy. It does the job and I expect to have it for a long while. A great purchase!
I was a little skeptical at first thinking that it might not have enough power or be too flimsy. It was so easy to put together and perfect for small gardens. We have been filling up our garden getting it ready and are pleasantly surprised, by how much power it has. very easy to handle. Easy to maneuver. After till in our space, we had to pull some of the weeds out from around the blades, but that's to be expected and it was just after the first round. Also, the instructions made it easy telling us how to till going in each direction.
This is a very light weight till that works good for churning up soft soil and mixing in mulch to your garden beds. It works better in reverse than forward. I don't think that it would work well for breaking up new ground but for mixing up my raised beds it does a good job. It is light and easy to move around and for the money is a good value. Yes I would buy it again.
A decent cultivator/tiller for the price - however the packaging is subpar as shown in the picture, very cheap cardboard that can be torn and loose items inside lost. Assembly was very easy, the instruction booklet is straightforward and clear, and performance seems to be good for clean dirt or soil without rocks or obstructions.
Took it out of the small delivery box. Had a little trouble putting it together. Once constructed, though, it's beautiful. Took it out for a spin yesterday in the garden. It's really light, not heavy to use. Its small size is better suited to a small garden. This tiller does a beautiful job of breaking up the soil, making several passes it can till down deep. Mixed in last year's natural mulch and soil additives with no problems.
