I like to buy DVDs of my favorite films to have a hard copy I can watch, in case they're no longer available on streaming. Walmart tends to sell good quality DVDs at reasonable prices, like this one. And of course, Anna Karenina is a meaningful, classic story that has been strikingly filmed in this movie! Happy with my purchase!

Great story and full of emotion. It's a film you can watch many times. Lovely setting for the story. Elegant film making. Highly recommend it. Wonderfully written and the acting is beautiful.

Excellent film of the Leo Tolstoy novel. Hard to follow at first because of the quirky stagelike production within a motion picture format. Nevertheless, the costumes and scenery are superb. So are the actors. A refreshing new perspective on an old classic.

If you've read the book, the movie interprets the book quite closely, except in the way the screenplay was written to depict the film as a play instead of filming in areas explored within the book. It made the film less credible somehow, especially during the horse race. Of course, Kiera Knightley is superb as Anna Karenina, but she cannot carry the film on her own. Aaron-Taylor Johnson, who plays Vronsky is sorely lacking in his portrayal, and fails to capture the true essence of Vronsky whom Tolstoy so eloquently created in Anna Karenina. All and all, it is an entertaining movie, and one does enjoy seeing Kiera Knightely wear those beautiful period costumes so well, but unfortunately, the period costumes only make the viewer wish the rest of the screenplay had been more true to the book.

This movie was not what I thought it was, very theatrical. I would have liked it more if it was theatrical. Glad they didnt break out into song like glee.

For such an amazing epic saga written by Tolstoy; this movie lost it for me. I've read the book, I know the story, I happen to be of Russian decent but man, I couldn't figure out what this movie was trying to be. It looks like a play most of the time, then like a story being told, and then at times like a regular movie. Too much of a mess. Skip this one and rent or buy one from years gone by; there are so many different versions and all are better than this one. Bought it because I wanted my husband to see what a great movie and story this way...this movie failed, he was just as confused as I was....is this a play or a movie?
