Works well. I'm picking up VHF stations from 60 miles away, with the antenna in my attic, with the addition of an inline booster. Also no problem picking up UHF stations that are up to 60 miles. 1 edge per rabbit ears.
This is exactly what I needed. Initially I purchased the Clearstream 2, but it didn't pull in the VHF channels (CBS, NBC) where I live. I called Antennas Direct and based my location, they recommended the Clearstream 5. I set up the antenna, pointed towards the recommended direction, and bingo, 43 channels including ALL major networks (CBS,NBC,FOX, ABC).
I purchased this antenna to complement an Antennas Direct DB8e to bring in stations broadcasting in VHF better. This product exceeded my expectations. I was having trouble with one VHF station 52 miles from my house in hilly terrain with trees. This antenna performed above expectation and the station is coming in very nicely. I will note that this antenna is not the greatest at boosting signal for UHF stations if you live far away from towers like I do. However, when this antenna is complemented with a good UHF antenna (the DB8e) and a good preamplifier, this setup works better than anything else I have tried yet. I am in the foothills of Western Maine and pick up 20 channels with an average distance to the towers of 43 miles in hilly tree-filled terrain. I am ecstatic to have been able to make an investment that has shed the need for a monthly cable bill. This will pay for itself in no time.
It works fine. I get 43 channels..... This site isnt working properly, & wants me to write more...
So far so good. Got full strength signal on over 60 plus channels. I am around 42' in the air. It wasn't a easy job by myself and a floor jack.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Due to the rising costs of cable, my son and I recently installed a ClearStream 5 antenna with a VHF/UHF combiner in our attic. The installation was quite easy and the reception we have is great. I would recommend ClearStream products if your thinking of going to an antenna.
This is a replacement antenna, my original was damaged because of a lightning strike. I'm very happy with the antenna direct product's quality.
I bought my ClearStream 5 (several months ago) because my ClearStream 2V was having problems picking up some stations. I live over 36 miles from the stations it was having issues with. Once I installed the ClearStream 5 the stations I was having issues with came in clearer then they did with I had one of those satellite companies... I had two directional mast antennas, one WNW for channel 11 (41 mi 278º) and 13 (46 mi 284º) and one ENE for channels 8 (46 mi 54º) and 10 (49 mi 64º). UHF Channel 29 (19 mi 350º) has always been good. We had poor reception and weak signals for channel 11 and 13. Live chat with Antennas Direct recommended the Clearstream 5 - to improve reception for 11 and 13. It did not improve the reception for 11 and 13, but I reversed the existing mast antenna from ENE to WNW and directed the Clearstream 5 to NE, all signal strengths are now satisfactory.
I live in Mckinney, TX and 50 miles from the transmitter stations. Was having issues getting ABC which is a hi-VHF channel. All the other antennas I tried would get every other channel except ABC. Tried antennas direct clearstream c2, clearstream c4, terk, and even the Mohu life sky HD but no success. Its compact compared to other vhf antennas and also works indoors. Only issue is that being a VHF antenna you don't get some UHF channels. The price is also higher compared to other antennas. This antenna is not easy to setup and will need a powered screw driver for the long screws
