I bought this at the same time I ordered the complete filter set, not realizing that Stage 5 IS the membrane and it is included with the filters. So now I have a spare for the next time I need to change filters. It was very easy to install the new membrane and our water tastes right again.
I've always gotten low dissolved solids readings so I never changed the RO cartridge for 6 years. Because of the long time I thought I should change it anyway. It dropped the reading from the mid 30's to the mid teens and the volume and pressure of water increased dramatically.
It had been 12 months since I changed out the 3 pre-filters, and 4 years since I first installed the system, so the membrane was due for a change. I thought the limited amount of water (about one gallon) I was getting was due to clogged filters, but that did not improve after the change out. I then shut off the water supply, drained as much water as would come out, pumped a bit of air into the tank, drained some more, etc., until the tank was truly drained. I then used a digital pressure gage to check the tank and pump it to 6psi. Voila, no more problem!
I guessed before purchasing this item and , turned out to be great. I had problems tasting different store bottle waters “ found out later the chlorine and ph “was cousin problems to my gastritis.
It has been installed for over a month now and I am very happy with both the filter and the entire APEC RO system. Excellent quality water and no installation issues were found.
The product was shipped in very little time and was the easiest to install. The ROES-50 system has saved me tons of $$$ on bottled water, and the taste is way better than spring water.
I installed the 2 top filters which were due to be changed out. Increased water pressure and still is great tasting water.
This is my first replacement filter and a "residue" floats on top of the water in the cup. I'm not sure what this is. The water taste is ok but it doesn't seem as "tasteless'' as I would expect. The residue also remains constant after many cups of water has been dispensed. I'm not going to change the whole system but hope that future filters will be different. Or perhaps it's the natural sediment from filters.
Yes…I bought all the filters, still runs for a little while then pops out. I get a trickle after it fills one large coffee cup. So disappointed….
Our system is less than 5 years old. Blew tubing apart. . . . water EVERYWHERE in my kitchen. Fortunately someone was home, able to turn off the water. If that had not been the case, imagine flooring, cabinetry ruined. I anticipated it would last longer. Not buying again.
