Excellent bacon!! I usually don't buy much meat my whole life, being mostly a pescatarian/vegetarian. My daughter and husband love bacon, tho, but I always feel guilty getting the regular bacon-thinking of the pigs being bottle fed through cages does nothing for my appetite. But this bacon is hormone and antibiotic-free, and claims to be raised humanely-which makes all the difference to me. You get a little less bacon for a little more money, but I say quality over quantity. I'd rather eat a little better and it be better quality, any day. This stuff cooked up beautifully! I just baked it in the oven at 400• for 20 mins, and voila! Perfect crispy bacon!! Hardly any fat! And 8 thick big pieces! Perfect for my family of 3! I'll be buying regularly.
Only gave it four stars for quality for money because it's so expensive. But I have to say it's worth it. I tried not buying it for a while and purchasing other bacon, but had to go back to purchasing this brand as it has spoiled me. In the end, I believe it's actually worth the price!
We love this uncured bacon. These are great to have in the freezer for when you are oops I thought I had another pack of bacon in the fridge. Typically I let these thaw a day before you plan to cook them. It turns out great, they cook the same amount of time as other packs of bacon and I have peace of mind knowing about these ingredients.
This is the best bacon for oven cooking. Cold oven. Parchment on cookie sheet. Bake at 400 to your desired crispness. For years I have been trying to recreate the bacon we had at Turkey Run State Parks brunch. I believe I've achieved it in the crispness and flavor. This bacon has a mild flavor. It's has now become my go to brand.
Applegate products always hit the mark for me and this bacon doesn't disappoint. I love that it's all natural and uncured. It was perfectly salty, unlike cured bacon which is always too salty for me. We love this bacon and I highly recommend it!
Expensive, but the flavor was great! You could not tell that this was missing any ingredients. Being on Keto and now I have an actual, real bacon I can eat and enjoy!
Wonderful flavor however there are only nine pieces in the package, but makes two great bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich sandwiches. The bacon grease is clear, beautiful fat.
I wouldn't recommend this bacon unless you have to buy bacon at Walmart. While it's labeled as “nitrite-free,” it lists celery powder as an ingredient, which is simply a natural source of nitrates and can have similar health effects. That feels misleading. Organizations such as the American Institute for Cancer Research have noted that nitrate sources like celery powder can still form compounds associated with increased cancer risk, similar to conventional nitrite additives. I wasn't able to find a completely clean bacon option at Walmart, and compared to the other choices available there, this is probably the best of the bunch. Still, I'd look elsewhere if you have the option.
I just paid $7 for 7 pieces of bacon. When it was less expensive and I got more, I would buy this weekly . For these prices I'll go to a breakfast place and have someone else do the work! I also suspect that the weight is not 9 oz. but I don't have a kitchen scale to confirm.
Incredibly salty (not in a good salty bacon way) texture was very hard to chew. I don't know if this was a bad batch or what, but it was my money wasted for a very small pack of bacon that was not edible. Need better quality control, apparently.
