It was easy to set up. The instructions were really helpful. I was impressed with how easy it was to get up and running. The filter works great. Replacement filters are very reasonably priced. Our fish is thriving now! My daughter loves the color changing LED lights. I do recommend getting the wall plug for the lights because running the lights off batteries will take a lot of batteries. We went through 3 AAA in a few days. The wall charger is around $7 from Walmart or on Amazon. Very nice and pretty aquarium.
You're limited to maybe 2 small fish with this tank. I tried to cycle my tank with fresh water for months, but the tank is just too small to cycle the ammonia and nitrates/nitrites correctly. i ended up adding lake water in this, which is murky when added. But the filter clears up the water within a day. I stock mine with small lake fish (3 of them right now, 2 1.5 inch and 1 that is about an inch). the interesting thing, the fish are dark grey when i add them. after about a week, the fish are kind of clear, whitened up and healthy. i'm going to add 2 more, i usually have 5 small fish in this tiny tank (i've had 12 in there, 7 babies. i released those back to the lake). i clean this tank out about once a month, the filter has no chance to catch waste and extra food. the pebbles in the bottom are actually "stuck" to each other. i filter the water and reuse 60% of it, and add 40% fresh lake water. negative: the pipe broke on the filter (it's adjustable in height, and poorly made). i took a simple 3/8 hose pipe from an old shower hose and fixed it. i've had this tank for over a year now. if you know how to maintain it, this is an excellent bargain tank. Don't use batteries. Use a mini USB plug for the lights, runs off a 5 volt phone charger block. And add an air bubbler.
I was misled by a YouTube review on this product that I cancel this item before it arrived ones it arrived I saw the box and I decided to open it the size look very good to me which that was the problem with the YouTube reviews this tank for me and my daughter betta fish is great the size, light and the noise of the filter works perfectly no noises at night and not to mention the lights yeah it works with batteries but you can also buy a adapter which I use from an old phone don't be misled like I was and keep it
Great purchases for children. The helped with decorating the fish new home. But one of them broke his light. Now I need a new one.
Love the 7 Light Feature but Monthly you'll probably go threw 2-3 packs of AAA batteries... So stock up!! But Love
This tank is cute. The light is cool, good size for a small fish. I have 2 of these tanks and both have Betas in them. (Just one beta). If youre looking for a good filter, you are buying the wrong gank. The filter will work for maybe a month or 2 before it starts making this really harsh loud sound. Even changing the filter pads it continued to do so. And when i mean loud, it is LOUD! So i completely had to take the filters out of both tanks. I gave the tank 3 stars because iy is cute, and the LED is bright and my fish do enjoy the tanks (been seeing lots of bubble nests) but the tank should really only cost 10-11 dollars. Not almost 20.
The tank is visually pleasing. My biggest issue is how weak the tank feels when filled with water. Literally feels as if it will crack or break at any moment when being moved.
So I thought like many of the reviews I had read that the light in our tank stopped functioning. Which happened after less than a week. When using batteries it (the light) doesn't want to work anymore. However, if you look at the back of the light it has a plug in spot to use like a regular phone charger so it can plug into the wall. When using a cord it works perfectly fine. The light just doesn't want to function using the batteries anymore. Otherwise the tank is good for what we needed.
I would not recommend this tank for a betta fish. Our betta got caught in the filter and his tail is now mangled. We had to disentangle his back fins to remove him, and we are shocked that he survived. And, yes, we do have rocks and plants around the filter. This was a very disappointing purchase.
light is dim. cool if you want colors but not very bright white. filter doesnt work very well. clogs easily and had to put on top of gravel. will not buy again. returning as soon as new tanks arrive.
