Functions and appears as pictured and described. Lightweight, fits safely onto the edge of our 10 gallon tank. Easy to use/install. These little water pumps/filters last a long time, if taken care of; have used this brand in the past and they normally work well. It comes with a permanent plastic filter and a charcoal filter; it's designed to use both filters together, and it's recommended the charcoal filter be changed about once a month. Packages of replacement charcoal filters are available for purchase.
I didn't like that it didn't have a knob where you control the flow of water through the filter. I can hear the water filtering in the other rooms. That's not what I wanted but it's fine.
My old pump was working good I thought, but when I decided to buy a new pump and installed it, OMGosh the new pump keeps the fish poop from building up in the corners and really moves the water. I just have a 10gal tank and this pump is just what I needed.
I have used the Aqua-Tech filters for many years. I have 4 fish tanks so I have used every size that is available. These filters are very reliable and last a really long time.
So, you do need to run this with water in the filter for a few minutes before it really starts running well. It is a bit louder than some other filters, but it works!
A waste of money. The pump is extremely loud. It can be heard down the hall in other rooms. It seems to go through cycles where it revs up then gurgles back down to be slightly less loud. It vibrates so much that the glass on the tank vibrates. Worst (or maybe best) of all, it completely stopped working after 3 weeks.
I have always bought this brand of pump. The old style of pump lasted along time, a couple of years. This new style is just as powerful but the motor does not last very long at all. The first one I bought lasted 2 months. Thought it might have just been a faulty one so I bought another one. It also quit working after a couple of months. I won't buy another one of this style.
It never did a great job of filtering my ten gallon, and now not even two months later I am having to completely replace it since it decided to stop wokring. Do not waste your money- pay a few dollars more to get a nicer filter that ACTUALLY filters, or go with another brand (that isn't garbage). Your fish will thank you for not wasting your time and money on this cheap plastic failure.
received it and it doesnt work. it makes a noise but no water comes out. ive filled the water up all the way, ive checked that ive put it together probably and it still doesn't work.
Filter never worked the way it should have. It barely had water flow and the lid wouldn't stay closed. Then it completely stopped working after only 2 months of use. Complete waste of money.
