I bought this snowblower to clean my 1000 sq ft deck. I didn't want a steel auger, fearing that it might chew up the deck boards. The deepest snow I have done so far this winter is six inches and it performed very well. I am guessing that for very wet and deeper snow you would want to get out early and do it twice. Time will tell.
Unboxed quickly. Three (3) Screws to attach the shoot. Two (2) connectors for the Tiller. One (1) bottle of oil (included). Poured in gas. Hit the primer a couple of times. Plugged in the Power Cord for the electric start. Pushed the start button and I was clearing snow. YEAH... Compact, Powerful, Simple.... Great Value
Heard many stories about single stage snowblowers, most of them bad. But, in my opinion, they are very wrong. Whether your blowing 1" or 6" of snow, this machine is awesome. Mind you can't blow the really wet stuff the city plows into your driveway right after your done that is 12" deep, but it will handle smaller wet snow. It won't blow it 20' like it does with just your average snow, but it sure doesn't beat shoveling or breaking out the 2-stage machine that feels like overkill on a small snow fall.
I have used it one time so far and it works well I also bought snow jet with it and I had no clogging.
This is my first Arien product and I have to say that, so far, it has operated perfectly. The control layout is very function and starts with a single pull. It has an electric start but I've not tried it yet. I would recommend.
Put gas & oil in it and it started up first try perfectly! Worked great in the 14" of heavy snow we got on 12/1/19, Very pleased, did my driveway and three of my neighbors in under an hour! Fast and powerful little machine!
Have only had to use it once so far. We had 13 inches of snow over night. It worked very good. Easy pull start. It's a little heavier than I expected, there is a shed that is elevated that I keep it in. It is a little difficult to lift this up into the shed. For single stage blower it worked just fine. This is my first Ariens product, we'll see how it goes. It was between this and a Craftsman. The Craftsman had a 2 year warranty and this had a 3, that was the deciding factor.
Starts up easily. Controls are easy to use. Has plenty of power. My only complaint is that there is a small amount of blow back (snow that blows under the guide strip).
Have not used the snowblower yet. Looks user friendly. Also seems user friendly for maintenance. Only issue so far is engine. It does not seem to idle well. Almost sounds like it is backfiring. Will it settle down?
There hasn't been much snow in the Chicago area this season so I couldn't respond sooner. That being said I have to admit that I'm disappointed with this product. It starts on the first pull and has a lot of power, which will come handy, My main complaint is that the discharge chute has clogged up every time I've used this product. I initially thought it may be because the snow was wet and heavy but this morning the snow was light and fluffy and the same thing happened, I had to stick my hand into the chute to push the snow out in order to continue. Definitely not what I was expecting to do with a new snowblower. I owned a Toro snowblower for over 20 yrs. During that time I have never had a problem with the discharge chute clogging up. You would expect that Ariens would have solved this problem years ago.
