Got these as a substitute for the Great Value Freshness Guaranteed deli sub rolls which were out of stock. These are horrible! Firstly, they are not sub rolls, they are hot dog bun size - they fit in the palm of your hand. Secondly, they are super soft and doughy to the point that doughy dense bread is all you taste when biting into your sub. They are so dense and doughy that the bread sticks to the roof of your mouth! Thirdly (and most irritating), they are sweet! Sweet like cake or doughnuts sweet and that is an awful taste when you're biting into a savory sub sandwich. Why on Earth are these "sub" rolls sweet! I removed my meats, veggies, cheeses, and pickles from the 2 subs I made, put them on white bread and threw those 2 subs and the entire package in the garbage. That's where these are most suited for. Just Yuck! Will never accept these as substitutes again nor will I ever buy this brand. Sweet thick, dense, doughy soft hot dog bun size sub rolls, fgs!
First off, these “sub rolls” are way too soft — like they've been training for a nap instead of holding a sandwich. Not split all the way through (because apparently that's our job now), and they've got this odd sour note that makes you wonder if the dough went on a little too long of a fermentation vacation. But the real kicker? They're tiny. About the size of a hot dog bun. I mean, call me crazy, but if you label something a sub or hoagie roll, shouldn't it be able to handle a cheesesteak or sausage sandwich without looking like a sad appetizer? These are glorified hot dog buns in denial. Arnold, you might want to rename these “Mini Disappointments – 6 Count.”
I received this as a replacement for the brand I usually get. They were well inside the use by date, but frankly were pretty bad. Not sure how, but they were soft, but really dry. the bread was not as dense as normal rolls. I tried the nuke thing for 20 seconds, which helped a bit but still dry. This one baffles me, but I won't buy this brand again and have no idea how to spruce them up to make them palatable. Definitely not a product for any BBQ outside
Next time I'll go into the store and lay eyes on the rolls---these are literally nothing but hot dog which aren't sliced---if you like your hoagie/sub teeny/tiny-then these are perfect--these were very fresh %26 soft which I do like--but I bought these to make Italian sausage with sauteed onions %26 peppers -- these simply aren't large enough--I really wonder if Arnolds' thinks the customer is so dumb they won't notice or what???---regardless WAAYYYYYY too small to be called a sub roll--this is what I get for buying online WITHOUT actually seeing the item I guess......
They were fine EXCEPT for having been mashed on the bottom row! Encourage the shoppers/delivery drivers to do better in handling customer's orders! No excuse for something new arriving crushed/mashed flat! Wrong, just wrong!
My package came mixed with some that looked like sub rolls and some that looked like hotdog buns. I prefer a little larger, sturdy sub roll that has a better taste. These are just white bread dough made into a sub/bun shape. They taste like plain white bread. If you like fresh soft white bread, these are for you.
If your making philly cheese or po boy sandwiches this one is great for them enclosed on one end so no dripping or foid falling out
I didn't order these because I didn't want them they cost too much they're small they're doughy sweet I don't like them at all
these were substude for another brand. found sub rolls too small and doughy. i usually use rolls for meatball subs. these are more like hotdog rolls
Used to make meatball subs. Added meatballs, sauce and mozzarella cheese. I didn't like how they were they turned out. Maybe it was the sauce that made them a little soggy? Which shouldn't have happened since i toasted them. Maybe another recipe would have been better. But they still worth a try.
