I was so frustrated with manual pepper grinders. This was a very pleasant surprise.
Human Interface Issues:
*The grind button is far too easy to activate by accident. Happens a few times a week when we pickup or set down the unit even after a couple months of using it. The button needs some kind of protective flange or be a bit harder to accidentally press.
*The USB "C" cable is shorter than I prefer, so I swapped that out first thing.
*When removing one grinder from the plastic holding stand, it can "stick" if not pulled straight up...and that can cause the second grinder to be pulled up with it all and even fall out of the stand if you're not careful. I caught ours just in time. We no longer use the holding stand.
*When unscrewing the 2 halves to add peppercorns, remember that the "unscrew" rotation is backwards from "normal". To separate the halves, you twist the pieces clockwise about 1/8 of a rotation relative to each other, not counter-clockwise as is usually considered "normal". Otherwise, it MIGHT be too easy to break something if you try to separate the halves turning them the wrong way. DO NOT FORCE...they should come apart fairly easily. And remember that they come apart with a very minimal rotation of the pieces.
*If you look closely at the joint that separates the top silver half from the clear "corn" section, you'll should find an almost un-noticeable marking of a short 4mm vertical bar on the silver piece, and a 15mm long horizontal line with "locks" on either end inked onto the plastic part. You use those icons to line-up the pieces to join them back together. When joined the vertical bar should align with the "closed" hasp icon. When the two pieces are ready to separate to add corns, that bar should align with the "open" lock icon. Personally, I find the "lock" icons too small. They could be and should be larger.
Performance Factors:
The grind can be a bit inconsistent at times. I changed the grind setting to keep it as fine as possible. Initially the peppercorns came out far too large and we got bits as large as half a corn alongside bits as fine as dust. I also think many people don't know how to get best lithium battery lifespan.
Charge a unit until the really tiny (white) LED lamp above the button turns off to indicate it's fully charged.
Then use it for grinding for many meals WITHOUT FURTHER CHARGING until you see or hear the grinding first begins to slow down.
Then repeat the cycle.
Like your smartphone, NEVER leave the unit plugged in 24 hours/day. That WILL cause early life lithium battery failure.
We charged one up when first purchased Sep 14, 2025 and we use it 2x to 3x per day for two people, and haven't had to recharge it yet. It's still grinding very well at 2 months as of Nov 18. The white illumination LED in the bottom section of the unit is still very bright.
It really brings out the fresh, crisp taste of whole black peppercorns even using very old non-specialty "Tone's" we'd had packed away some time ago.
