Good but don't ugpgrade

Abeldaking March 10, 2022

The device is amazing out of the box, however I did accept the upgrade to windows 11 for free and after doing so some of the functionality of the device declined. I imagine it has something to do with combability with drivers. When I upgraded to windows 11 my audio quality went down really bad and the Animatrix stopped working. I had to uninstall armoury crate and reinstall it for it to work again.

Perfect Gaming Laptop

Josh H January 3, 2022

I have had this laptop for two weeks now, and couldn't be happier. The RTX 3060 paired with the Ryzen 9 makes for an incredible gaming experience. With balanced settings and no real tweaking, I get between 90 and 110 fps when playing Apex and Warzone. The CPU fans and GPU fans are relatively quiet compared other laptops. I regularly game for 3-4 hours and the laptop stays around 85°C-90°C. And the AniMe Matrix is an awesome addition.

My daily driver! I'm satisfied.

L.Y. July 31, 2021

After working from home for more than 1 year, as a software developer, I really need a nice laptop for both work and non-work uses. I have a powerful desktop, but I also need a powerful laptop to move with me inside my home. Plus, from time to time I prefer to sit on the couch, do some coding with TV playing in the background. Finally, I need a laptop that is better than any of my current ones, including the work issued (which isn't really exciting). There are some minimal requirements from me: - AMD CPU with 8 cores / 16 threads - 32 GB DDR4 memory - 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD - Higher than FHD native resolution - Good battery life (and prefer no touch screen) - Thin and light (prefer 14 inch) - Can play games OK (for best gaming experience I have my PC desktop) - Look nice I have looked a lot brands and models for many months, nothing really feels meeting all the requirements until I saw this 2021 model of G14! It's really a nice fit and without hesitation I placed an order with BestBuy. The AniMe Matrix is such a cool and innovative feature! With so many laptops out there, we need creativity and ASUS is good at it (another great example is the ASUS double screen design in various Duo models). I also love the no camera design, despite Zoom is so "essential" these day, I don't miss meetings and I prefer focused time (TV playing in the background is fine). After a few weeks, I can attest that this is truly what I want and it's my daily driver now. It runs all my work tasks faster, but without big noise like some other laptops I have. Needless to say, I do not have any problem with running non-work stuff. Gaming is fine, I do not expect a powerful desktop's experience with a very high resolution. At WQHD (2560 x 1440) I enjoyed playing most of my games (haven't tested all, but for heavy games I'd use my desktop). I don't really run benchmarks but just observe the daily experiences. I'm satisfied. - Audio is fine - Backlight keyboard is fine - Typing experience is fine - Touchpad experience is fine - I/O ports are fine - WiFi is fine I appreciate it comes with Windows 10 Pro, not Home. And I know it will be able to upgrade to Windows 11 later this year. Weight and dimension are fine to be thin and light, considering all the packed power. Since there is nothing perfect, I do have few "I wish": - 64 GB memory (32 x 2 with 32 fixed on board is fine), but that is only for running some demanding virtual machine(s) - work related limits. - Better fingerprint sensor. From time to time I need to press down my finger for a second time to login to Windows. Maybe I need to re-enroll my finger in different angles.

Send help - It's too cool

Anonymous September 25, 2021

Dear Lord please help me this laptop is way too cool. I originally bought this laptop for AI development and general purpose programming, but every time I take it to class I can't focus due to the sheer number of people telling me how impressive my laptop is. I am torn away from my work at every waking moment I spend in class due to someone reminding me of how much they enjoy the Anime matrix on the back of the lid. When I attempt to isolate myself from the people that are most susceptible to flattery by this laptop, I only find myself with a line of people that have gone out of their way to tell me, one by one, that they like my laptop. Last week I've had roughly 20 incredibly attractive cheerleaders follow me around campus telling me how they love my laptop, trying to seduce me into pulling it out for them. However, with such a small & compact laptop (coming in at only 14") I was too embarrassed to bother. Just yesterday, in fact, I was mauled by approximately 157 rabid underclassmen, (at least one of which broke up with his girlfriend moments after seeing my laptop on the table,) who were all trying to see the "H-er than -D" 120hz 1440p screen. As it stands, at least three of them have followed me home, and are watching me type up this review through the window. It looks like the satisfying clicking of the keyboard & trackpad is keeping them happy for the time being, but there is a crowd forming. I don't know how long I'll be able to hold them off if they manage to break through my defenses. Hopefully the 10hrs of battery life on this thing will buy me some time before the horde of brainthirsty laptop admirers finally come for me & my laptop. Wish me luck.

Fast!

JoJo55 September 5, 2022

This was bought for my son for college. I'm not sure what this is but he said on his old computer it took 2 1/2 hours to render something and only took 18 minutes to render the same thing on this computer. He loves it and says the speed and everything else about this computer exceeds his expectations.

Fast, solid, and compact.

Rehket August 6, 2021

Fast, solid, and compact. The laptop is a beast of a machine in a small form factor. It's perfect for the games I play and is very performant for stuff like software development with the large amount of memory available.

Just what I need

Jean89 January 17, 2022

Wonderfully fast and terrific graphics - the 32 RAM is exactly what I need to run my astrology software. This is a brand new purchase, so haven't gotten to use everything yet... the upgrade to Windows 11 was easy.

So close to being perfect

Izzyness August 6, 2021

It is everything i expected and more! What stops it from being 5 stars is the apparent lack of quality control. There are chips in the paint job that i don't believe should have passed inspection.

Coil whine

Anonymous July 30, 2021

Returned because of coil whine. First one had coil whine when sleeping the second one had coil whine all the time. If I'm spending that kind of $$$ I expect perfection from my laptop.
