I thought about purchasing a couple 1ups for my garage, but I did some research on the Legends Ultimate and ended up going this route. I was a little worried after reading multiple reviews of people receiving damaged systems; however, mine came in excellent condition. The packaging was great and installation was easy (careful with the screws as they can crack the wood, dont use a power drill). During my research I learned about the ability to add your own games, which is exactly what I did. The games that come with system arent the best and do not include all the hits from my childhood. Nevertheless, I went on Etsy and purchased a CoinOps thumb drive with over 1500 games on it and now the system has everything I could ask for. It looks great in the garage, has all the games I could want on it, and provides tons of fun to everyone that visits. If you want to purchase an arcade system I would personally recommend this one (with a CoinOps thumb drive). Hope this helped, fun gaming!
Amazing Arcade, a dream became truth. All parts arrived in perfect conditions, very easy to ensemble (there is a video on youtube from AT games), it is modular. It cames with a lot of games, and you can add more, i can´t believe i am able to have an arcade with all the games from when i was teenager. Very recommended and really affordable compared with the price of the professional arcades, like a quarter of the price. The Product has very good quality and the feeling of the buttons and pads is great, feels like the originals, obvious that AT games made a great job here and take the time to create a product that fullfill the expectations of old school gamers!!!
Best purchase I've made in years. With a little help from etsy/ebay I have 1600 arcade games and 4k console games on this thing, stream Steam pinball, platform (Cuphead, Little Nightmares) and fighting games to it, and atgames has contests, leaderboards, and it's own ecosystem they're developing. Nothing anywhere near this for the price. It's top-heavy so it comes with anchors for the wall which are necessary on carpet, on really any surface because of games like 10 yard fight and Track and Field. The buttons, spinners, trackball, joysticks are good quality and there are lots of options for upgrades. Atgames also has accessories- a Light Gun, a LCD Digital Marquee, pinball buttons for the side, art panels/acrylic. I went with Walmart over Sams b/c I didn't have a membership and wanted to paypalcredit this thing. After some googling it also runs Video Jukebox front ends through the local streaming. Can't say enough. You could build your own MAME cab but not with all this at this price. Tech product of the year, imo. Arcade1up better watch their backs. Friends freak out when they see it in action.
Don't buy any other arcade! This one is easy to mod. All you need is to search Etsy and get a usb stick. I now have access to 1600 arcade games that I grew up with. Do some research and buy this. Its the only arcade cabinet youll need
Some say the machine height is too low, I disagree. It's counter height, perfect. Could use a way to automatically switch between 4 and 8 way gates on the joystick (includes an octagonal restrictor, which is a decent trade-off but not perfect.) V5 saUCE went on smooth and delicious.
Love it! This was a Christmas present. For my 8 year old who asked for an actual arcade game for Christmas and well, what kid doesn't always dream of having one? The games okay great, everything another this machine is great. One piece of advice though because their support was unable to explain this in a way that made sense, all the Taito games require you to press P1 while holding down on the joystick. I know we will get many hours of fun and memories out of this machine.
This thing is awesome, especially once you upgrade the hard ware and add games. I was impressed with it out of the box, assembly was a breeze and it worked as soon as I hit the power button. I ordered a USB stick with 5500 games on it. I didn't feel like making my own MAME USB stick, they are cheap enough to buy in my opinion. I also upgraded the springs and micro switches, not necessary but personal preference. Came well packaged too. Nice job!
The delivery was great and the game was a snap to put together. My only gripe is from all the YouTube videos of people praising the system of playing the arcade versions of games. I can count one one hand how many games actually resemble there arcade versions visually. Asteroids, Millipede, and one or two more and thats about it in my opinion. Comparing the games on this system to the arcade versions is a joke. Now Im not saying its not fun to play and the nostalgia factor is crazy Just dont buy this thinking your getting the same quality of games that you played in the arcade 30/40 years ago. Coinopsx is a great feature but beware of all the YouTube hype.
After excitedly bringing the parts inside and assembling everything together, I pressed the power button and... black screen. The speakers faintly clicked and popped a few times, but no other sound. After some frantic Googling, and partially disassembling the upper half of the cabinet (which comes fully assembled out of the box). It's a mess of wires back there, with very little attention paid to cable management. Some cables are too long and are folded together with a zip tie, others are just flapping around. The power cable splitter assembly is a real eye-roller, looking like a high school science project, but it does work. I decided to do an unplug/replug of all cables to see if I can get it to work. After a few minutes, I found that the cable that plugs into the back of the LCD screen was loose even though the connector has a metal clip and there is black tape covering it to help hold it in place. I believe the issue is that the LCD display cable has a bunch of other cables bundled to it with a zip tie, and this entire bundle has some weight to it and is just flapping around in there during shipping, and one good drop caused it to tug the connector loose during shipping. This would not have happened if the cable bundle was properly held in place somewhere in the middle and did not rely on a piece of tape to keep the LCD connector from coming loose. In the process of troubleshooting, I also found a loose screw just rolling around, which explains the slight rattle I heard when I picked it up to bring it inside. I found the empty location that the screw was supposed to go into - it's a large machine screw and could not have fallen out by itself. It's more likely the factory just didn't finish assembling it and the screw was left sitting there because the worker forgot to install it. Frankly, I'm a little surprised at the lack of polish this thing has as a product. I know that emulator-based arcade machines have roots in DIY, and therefore any mass-produced machine is going to leverage the platforms, parts, and assembly techniques that are popular in the DIY world. What I didn't expect, is the amateur nature of how the parts are assembled together. I wouldn't have had to peek inside if the machine worked correctly when I received it. I would expect a professionally produced machine to use better cable management to enhance the reliability and long-term durability of the product. This is what separates a mass-produced product from something that a hobbyist cobbles together in his garage or basement.
I have a 4 month old system and the track ball just stopped working out of the blue. This is after being played maybe a total of 20 times. I contacted AtGames support via email (there is no phone) and they responded basically saying since the system it out of the 30 day warranty period I have to order a new trackball at my expense and fix it myself and that is the best they can do. Well if that's the best they can do then the best I can do is to recommend passing on this system and to pay a little more for something that comes with actual support that will back their customers with fixing their defective product. Now wishing I steered clear of this headache.
