Athletic Works Women's and Women's Plus Active Skort, Sizes S-5X

This is the best skort I've ever owned. Already bought 5 of them and will probably order more as more colors become available. It is comfortable, stylish, cute, fits well, covers well, has good length, moves with you and even has a hidden adjustable drawstring, actually on the inside, instead of the outside of the skirt, so that it doesn't get caught on anything and doesn't mess up the simple style that I love in this product so much. There's also a hidden pocket area in the back for whatever necessities you need to have with you. The hidden pocket is about a credit card size, but very roomy, can probably keep an iPod or small iPhone in there. I wear these skorts out to run errands, hiking, lounging around the house and I can even sleep in these with no problem at all. I practically live in these skorts all summer, because they're so comfortable without sacrificing style and will buy more in other colors. These are a staple in my closet.

I've been purchasing Danskin products for years...back in my 30's for high impact aerobic dance and still now that I'm a senior doing a little less active forms of exercise. I definitely love and trust Danskin products. Their items hold up beautifully for years and always make you look good. This Danskin Now skort is a delightful step up from a regular skort. This garment has both the full short underneath and a full skirt portion on top, as opposed to routine skorts that are essentially a pair of shorts with a fabric panel that resembles a skirt covering most of the area around the shorts, but flaps open and blows around where not completely covered. You get the best of both worlds in this neat little skort. The outer skirt panel of cotton jersey-knit is 90% cotton and 10% spandex. The inner short is 90% polyester and 10% spandex. This inner short uses moisture-wicking technology that Danskin calls Dri-More. This inner short has a more silky feeling to it that is breathable and not only helps to wick perspiration away and dry quickly, but it will prevent your upper legs from rubbing together and chafing as can happen during strenuous activities. The inner short also has flat seams which further help not to rub against moist skin. When wearing this skort, there is no need to apply anti-chafing cream to the the inside of your upper legs. This skort features an extra-wide elastic waistband with a working drawstring on the inside front. The waistband is 2 3/4” wide, which is important to me. There is nothing worse than a thin waistband digging into your abdomen...especially when you might be doing activities that cause you to perspire...further causing a greater chance of chafing. Danskin's nice wide waistband prevents the skort from riding up and is also great for holding in the tummy or for securely tucking in a top. I have this skort in black soot size medium. My skort measures 14 5/8” from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the skirt portion. The top of the waistband hits me about 1” below my belly button. This might vary a little depending on the length of your rise. The shorts underneath the skort are approximately 2” shorter than the length of the skort. Another nice feature is a slit measuring 3.75” on each side seam of the skirt portion of the skort to provider a greater range of motion. One special feature of this well-designed skort is that the waistband inside the back of the skort features a hidden 5” x 2 3/8” stretchy pocket where you can stash away your keys and cash...or even a smaller size cell phone. The “pocket” has a stretchy top flap that covers the bottom portion of the pocket to keep your items secure. Danskin thought of everything! As if that wasn't enough, Danskin has added a reflective Danskin logo on the front top left of the skort and a reflective “Dri More” logo on the top back right of the skort in case you are outside in low-light conditions. This item has a tag-free label on the back waistband, which I always appreciate to further reduce irritation. The laundry instructions indicate to wash this garment in cold with similar colors and to tumble-dry low without using fabric softener. No ironing needed. I have laundered this item once so far. There was no pilling or shrinkage. My skort came out as good as new. This item was made in El Salvador. This is a very packable item. It would roll right up into very little space in your suitcase. I am using this item to play tennis in, but I plan to buy a couple more maybe in a dark color, white, and a fun color to be my go-to pieces for casual wear on summer vacation. Personally, I think this skort could be used as a swimsuit bottom in a pinch. To me, purchasing this skort is a no brainer at less than $12! It would be great for ladies of any age.

These are a very nice skirt/short combo. The feeling of the material is of a thicker, better quality "dri-more" material. I like how the waist band can be tightened with drawstrings, and the drawstring can be kept inside the skirt for a seamless skirt look on the outside. These are 90% cotton/10% spandex, so I assume they will tighten up a little bit after washing and drying. I am 5'5, about 118 lbs, and typically buy things in a Small(4-6) range, but I got these in a medium(8-10) and they fit very comfortably, not too tight or too loose. Perfect length for an active skirt/short. Overall, highly recommend this product.

This Women's Plus Size Active Skort Is light weight and stretches with you. It seems that it runs pretty true to size if not a little larger. I normally take a large and a lot of times depending on maker an extra large will fit like a large. The draw string at the waste adjusts your waste size nicely. There is a small storage pocket at the back center of the waste band with a closing flap to store your little extras while you work out, jog or go out during the day. The shorts under the skirt are so silky soft and they do not slide up your leg. This is not shorts where you are constantly pulling them down and adjusting. The versatility and the look of this skort is what I like. The material wicks the swear to helps keep you fresh. I feel just as comfortable pairing this with a nice top to go out for a casual lunch or dinner or wearing it to the gym to work out. After washing and drying on medium heat it did shrink a little.

This is a properties and characteristics review only of this garment. Unfortunately, I selected a size that was too large for me so I was not able to actually wear it. However, being a seamstress, I can comment on the fabric, stitching and features. The product color I received is called, "Black Soot." This skort is super-soft; the exterior fabric is 90% cotton and 10% Spandex while the interior under short is made of 90% Polyester and 10% Spandex. There is double stitching throughout the garment; appears to be very durable and I am sure it will stand up to multiple washings and still look beautiful. There is a hidden back pocket for small items; I do not think a cell phone would fit in it, and has interior draw strings. The label states not to use fabric softeners or bleach. Cold water wash only and tumble dry on low heat; no ironing. Made in El Salvador. I am amazed at the extremely inexpensive price for this well-constructed garment on Walmart.com. I'm so bummed I can't wear it, but I'll share it with someone who can. My loss is their gain (no pun intended!).

Very cute, very comfortable, can be worn with a tank for a sporty look or even a nice top for casual work day. Material is very thin so it's not at all bulky and doesn't make you warm, the under shirts have an even thinner satin type polyester feel. My only issue is that it runs big, really big! I sized down to a 1x because I'm smaller on the bottom, and I still swam in it. It does have draw strings on the inside to secure your sit but that doesn't do anything for the flare of the skirt so it still looked big. Size down!

Athletic Works Women Plus Size Active 2X - I RATE 4 STARS! The Athletic Works Women's Plus Size Active Skort I chose to review is the color Indigo Essence Size 2X . Upon examining these pretty skorts I was liking this color and the fabric was feeling really soft. I continued to put them on and I feel like these run a size bigger . So even though I have a size 2X it looks and fits like 3X. These Skorts have a wide elastic band waist along with a drawstring closure tie. I can still wear these with no problem . They look really nice but for me these also are much longer than I am use to. These skorts go down to the knee instead of falling around mid thigh. After wearing and looking closer the undershort part is not the same shade color. They are much darker indigo essence than the outer skort. The back inside waist flap pocket especially made for convenience to carry your I.D. or money is small like only I.D. card size. I did't use it because it wasn't really a way to secure it closed. The under short stayed in place for me and in casual wear and playing ball at the park these skorts are comfortable and look very nice too! So comfy made of 90% Cotton 10% Spandex with a special wicking away moisture fabric technology. The Athletic Works Women's Plus Size Active Skort Is affordable and comes in great colors! I recommend these gladly!

I really like this skort; it is well made, light weight, the fabric is soft, smooth and really comfortable. I wear skorts when we go golfing, so I already had a couple of pairs, and the royal blue was going to be a nice change from the grey and black ones I already have. It's stretchy, there's no binding or pulling anywhere; it will definitely 'move' with you, going through a golf swing. And of course it isn't just for golfing; anything that you do where you might like the look of a skirt but the ease of a pair of shorts make it perfect. There is just one problem I have with it: mine is much too big. I have clothes that range from medium to extra large, and not knowing anything about the sizing, I ordered a larger size, and it doesn't stay on unless I fold it over about 2" on either side. I will see if I can take it in or take it to a tailor, so it just means that I'll need to wait until I can wear it. (When you buy clothes without knowing how the sizing is, this can happen.) Everything else about it I am very happy with, and now I know better how to order or buy another one if I see it in the store. And I'll definitely buy another if it's available. (I tried to get a photo of the shorts underneath, but it didn't come out too well, and the blue in the photo isn't as true to color as it really is.)

This skirt is a true black color. Skirt is pull on with a drawstring and elastic waist. I was worried about the drawstring getting tangled and twisted inside of the skirt while wearing. After wearing and washing this skirt several times the drawstring is still tightly in place. The outer skirt layer feels like cotton. The inner shorts feel more like rayon or like they are made up of moisture wicking fabric. Drawstring has lots of extra length to be able to knot and tie skirt to make it tighter. I got a 1X (16/18) but this skirt is very large on me. I'm able to make it fit by using the drawstring, but because its so large on me there is lots of extra draping material. It is comfortable to wear though. I was a little nervous about how comfortable the edging of the shorts would be because when you run your fingers over it it feels very rough. However, while wearing my legs were never bothered by the rough ends. Shorts fit snug but without riding up on your legs. They are also a nice length but don't hang out below the skirt part. The shorts also fit well so you don't have to worry about someone getting a peep of anything you don't want them to see. Skirt is 17 inches in length. I am 5'3 and it hit just below my knee. Skirt also has very small 4 inch slits on either side. Skirt label says 90% cotton 10% spandex. Machine wash cold and tumble dry low. I washed mine on warm hoping to make it shrink a bit, but it did not shrink. Cute and comfy skirt, just beware it does run a bit big.

I think my skorts were used or defective. Freshly pulled out the packaged both pairs have a strange stain on the front of skort. It is very obvious and VERY embarrassing. Im going to order another pair to see if it normal looking. I provided pictures so you can see what I am talking about. I ordered the Navy and Black colored skirt. I am 190lb and 5'8 and ordered a size Large fits perfectly. The skirt is on the thin side does show panty lines for me.
