The first time I ordered one the box and remote worked fine. The second time I ordered one, the remote did not work, and the HDMI cord had a short and would not work. I reached out to the company, and they replaced the remote only. When I received the remote, it did not work. It was dirty between the keys. It had a cut on the soft pad and had rust all over the connections where you would place the battery. You will not get any answer calling this company. You will have to send a message and wait to hear from them. Communication for a resolution is very time-consuming. I still have the two bed remotes. I did not contact them again.
these seemed to be refurbished but in excellent condition. i bought 2 to check them out. they worked great so i got 3 more. at $42 each compared to $120 each AT%26T charges is a no brainer. i don't mind having a box, it's small, and has multiple outputs of various types.
I've been using Roku to access Direct TV for many months. I watch mostly pre-recorded "library" shows. Roku did the job, but like ALL general purpose streaming devices, it is not designed to stay connected to DTV, nor for watching mostly recordings. Everything requires getting signed on, waiting for DTV to start up, going to library mode before you can even start selecting a recording. Since this device is designed specifically for DTV, the whole process is smoother %26 friendlier, especially when going from one recording to the next. It's not as friendly as a TiVo, but much better than other devices for my needs. I wouldn't pay hundreds of $ for a new one, but for < $50, it's worth if for me.
I knew this was refurbished. The box was in excellent condition but the remote is another story. The back of it is sticky, like from a sticker. I have tried everything to remove it, but it is still there. Everything is working well, so I don't want to return it. I wish I could get a partial refund for the condition that the remote is in.
It is easy to install and set up. And it does what it is supposed to do. It works with DirecTV and allows you to change channels like a traditional cable system. After only a few months, it had difficulty keeping an internet connection. I'd get a message that says "connection lost" and it was toast at that point. The only way to restore the connection is to reboot. That is not an acceptable experience, especially when it happens more than once in a while; it happens frequently. IDK if it was only my device or if it is an issue with the product overall. I'd recommend taking a chance on it if you want that functionality, but be aware it may start to malfunction after a few months.
If you prefer the "old style" cable set top box interface, this is your device. I purchased this for both myself and my parents, because it mimics the look/feel and interface of the classic cable boxes of past. The OS is based on Android, so it is "modern". I use it with my DirecTV over internet and it works great. The CPU isn't exactly the fastest however, so there is some lag, but it's not to the point of annoying. I do find that a reboot (restart) every few weeks seems to keep things running smoothly (it does noticeably slow down, so reboot it to clear the cache, etc).
The DirecTV osprey box (C71KW-400) arrived in excellent condition. It connects to television easily via included hdmi cable. I have internet connected to the box with an ethernet cable (not included) rather than wifi, and the device works perfectly. All I needed to do is sign in to my DirecTV account to access streaming - no need to reset the device. My only complaint is a common one - the remote control has a sticky back. I cleaned it with an alcohol wipe, but the problem is not that it's dirty, it's the nature of the rubber molding. It will become less sticky with use. I definitely recommend this device if you want to avoid leasing the Gemini air from DirecTV.
Everything needed to be wiped down. Everything was covered in some type of sticky material. Other than that so far so good as far as functionality.
i was add DirecTV to a second room/TV easily with this streaming bix. The box and remote look brand new. The remote had slightly different button labeling than the latest remote but it otherwise identical. Great value.
Received quickly. Product was just as described. Included everything needed for quick install. Definitely recommend over paying monthly to lease equipment.
