Like some replies. Haven't had to open to actually test it. I will likely buy more & do so eventually. Price is good and shipping fast.
This is a great product from two great sources Augason and Wal-Mart. Excellent for back-up food storage or for a quick meal.
Just in case food!
This food has low cost and high value. The shipping was fast and picked it up at the store in just a few days. My family and I open one set and ate it on a weekend camping trip and the food tasted ok and easy and fast too prepare with hot water. If you use this food for bugout supply you will need an water filter system because it use a lot of water.
We honestly do not know how any of the products in the pails taste. If and when there is an emergency, we will know. We searched and searched. Finally we settled on these, because of what was in them and the relatively low costs. We have four pails of this product.
received within days of placing order, two containers arrived undamaged, have not had a emergency to try foods, maybe in November.
Hard to rate something I hope I never use. Augason's statements about this are tricky. In one place, "254 servings, 33 pouches, and 41,140 total calories." (Implying 162 calories per serving. A person needs at least 2,000 calories per day. Thus need 13 servings per day. Thus, 254/13=20 days.) In another place it says, "Serving Size 44 G. Servings Per Container 10." (There are two containers, thus, 20 servings. So, here a Serving means a Day.) I've assembled this much food for emergency use for a Lot less money, BUT my packaging was poor and it went bad. SO... this may be the way to go. This give nice variety, and in an emergency, people may go nuts if they had to live on my other store of beans and rice. OR in an emergency, people will be glad to have anything. YOU decide. I WOULD recommend this to a friend to at least think about. It's a quick easy way to get SOMETHING stockpiled, and I'm certain everyone should have this much for EACH person in your family. NOTE: Augason also has other kits. For example, I also bought their 48-Hour Emergency Food Supply
Unopened, but large quantity for 106 bucks!
We tried the marinara pasta dish and the pancakes. The marinara dish I had to add seasoning because it had a sour flavor then it turned out much better and the pancakes were good and we added sugar free syrup. Not sure why they call it emergency because you still need boiling water or a frying pan to cook them so we'll need some little gas emergency stove.
Bought these for emergency food supply. Haven't had an emergency yet. We will take some out soon and taste test.
