bought about month ago...dont use a whole lot.but always works on demand..little pricey compared to wyze .but great solid feel and buttons also feel firm..
This lock was the first thing I bought for my new house. It works great. I have had it a year. One day my middle child told me their phone was dead when they got home from school and they had to sneak in through a window. I forgot about it, and life went on... Until 2 weeks ago. I was at my neighbors hanging out. My phone died... And I had been gone over 30 min. 11pm... I come home.. door locked. I go into the garage, must have a charger out there. Nope. Start to panic a little. Walk to my ex's down there street 11:30pm. Show up unannounced... Ask kid to unlock the door... He can't. New phone, never downloaded app so it wasn't sync'd. Ex let me use a charger to get enough charge to get in. Every one laughs at me. I immediately out a phone charger in my garage and ordered the key pad. No more accidental lock outs for me! Love this thing. I do wish August linked to ring and Google home... But, it is what it is.
I have had this installed for a little over a month and it seems to love batteries. Not sure what the problem is. I have two others installed at two other locations and they are working wonderfully. That is why I bought this one. I love the features and convenience thy afford. I can set up a code and give my guests access without actually going physically to the lock. I have put two sets of batteries in it so far. Once the batteries are in, all is good and normal. But a few days later, the backlight will not come on when you press a button and the codes do not unlock the door. Or, when the lock is open, pressing he logo does not lock the door. If I take the pad off and giggle the batteries, it will work for a day or two; then quit. If I change the batteries, it will last longer; but not much.
I bought the key pad because sometimes you just want to exit the house for a quick moment with out your phone. Works great when leaving the house - you can just press the red button and the door locks. When the kids are visiting - they can just open the lock. I am so happy that August came up with this addition to their lock system which I have had for years !
I've had the August smart locks for a couple years. They totally for the need of HomeKit enabled while keeping the aesthetics of my HOAs “external hardware” policy. Well, I found out recently that there wasn't really a policy, and I decided, without question, to stay with August. And I couldn't be happier with the keypad!! Reliable, well made product. And now I don't have to have guests create profiles - I can just give them a code. Easy to install which was nice to see. Gives you exact drill but size, foam pad to keep it tight - EASY TO INSTALL!! turn it on - then sync with the August app I already use, Bada bing bada boom!!
This is a great addition to my August Smart Lock. I can easily add or delete authorized people each with their own code. It relieve me of the need to unlock and lock the door all the time (manually or with the app) and also it allows authorized people to enter without a smart phone. Great product.
I tried to install for at least 2 hours and could not get the code to work. I hired someone to do it and they tried for almost 3 hours and cannot get it to work. I will be returning it. I have the August home lock and also a gate lock and they were also very difficult to install. DO NOT BUY unless you are a tech expert with a ton of time on your hands!!!!! I would not recomment any August products------way too hard to install.
I've gone through two sets of batteries in 2 weeks. I don't understand why it's eating batteries like it does. Very annoying
Have not been able to install/use, application only buffering not directing me to actual site for instructions. Have a lock and can't access it either. Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated.
This keypad died in the middle of the initial setup and turned itself into a brick. Reseating the batteries got it to come back, but only temporarily; it bricked itself twice more after installation as well, requiring the same remedy. To be fair to August their customer service has been so far exceptional; they sent me a prepaid shipping label to send it back and they are currently looking at it now. Ironically, when removing the device from my account before sending it back, the thing bricked itself one final time. It's possible I got a bad unit, but since that is the only one I have to review, at this time, I can't recommend it. I will update this when August updates me on the status of my return/repair if the device is corrected.
