I priced paper shredders with wastebasket with a price tag of $40 and up. This shredder for $15.00 is a bargain! I can buy a "wastebasket" for less than $25. Our household shreds mail. We do not have a business, therefore, a heavy duty commercial unit for $40 and up was not in my price range. I recommend this product. It was not a free unit.
My first shredder. If I'd known it would be this awesome at such a super price, woulda bought one ages ago!! Thanks you manufacturer and thanks again Walmart for making it possible for me to stay in some semblance of budget with great inexpensive products! :)
Good little shredder. Fits onto several different sized cans and shreds as it should. Will overheat if used for a really long time, but letting it rest until it cools off resets it just fine. I've only had that happen once, but having owned home shredders before, it was kind of expected since I had a LOT of stuff I was shredding that day. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a good home-use shredder.
Don't put more than 4 or 5 pages in at once. It works well but will get hot eventually and stop working. Just wait and you will be back to shredding in a little while. When it gets stick with paper buildup, unplug it and clear the paper out of the teeth. Sometimes trying to put another paper in will help. I have 2 of these so when the first one gets hot, I have another one to use.
This is a great little shredder. What I like about it, is that it's portable and doesn't have to be in the way. It mounts on top of my 13 gallon trash can. This way I don't have to dump the basket all the time. Another good thing is quite. Then when done, just take it off and put it out of the way. Till I need it again. Try it, you'll love it.
I used to have one which for some reasons would not work any more after 6 years of service, so I bought another one as replacement, but I look at it this way nothing is for ever !
The Aurora works well, and does not continue running when it's in the "on" position. After a couple seconds it becomes quiet, which is great! (Some brands stay noisy when turned on--even when you're not sending paper through it).
Easy, quick shopping trip with great value for the dollar. This is the 3rd shredder I've purchased of this variety in the last 17 years...always return to the same one as it does the best job.
This is a new purchase of this paper shredder. Had for a number of years then had to replace. I think it was because I did not know to oil the shredder and never did. So, my advice is to oil on a regular basis and it should prove to last for long time; I plan to do so.
This particular shredder was a good purchase. It works well for shredding small jobs, or daily minimum shredding, as if you do any more than 25 - 30 mins the shredder will shut off to protect it shelf from over heating. I have a family member who has this same shredder with the waste basket, and they didn't read the manual and thought the shredder broke after trying to shred months worth of paper. Lol They kept trying to use the shredder and it wouldn't work, when all it was it shut off to protect its shelf from over heating. Also, you must make sure the basket doesn't get full and push up against the blades, beause this could cause a clog. Overall, this is a good shredder maybe for a student or for small jobs, but not for a household of 4 or more to shred papper with. I think this shredder is a bit temperamental , althought it strong and can handle shredding credit cards. All-in-all, it's a good buy for the price.
