This is so close to the dish in the Thai restaurants ( pad kra pao) that's unbelievable. The main difference is that this is ground beef instead of sliced beef and I almost didn't buy it because of that but I ended up buying it anyway and I'm so SO GLAD I did. The green beans still have a little bit of crunch to them phenomenal! The ratio between salty spicy and sweet? perfection they nailed it.
Authentic Asian Stir Fry Thai Basil Beef Meal. (Frozen) When we dine @ Thai Restaurant, we always order Shrimp pad, Thai for me and chicken pad Thai for my spouse. Never had the nerve to order something with Thai basil, as I was unsure of the taste. These containers, which you microwave.for minutes was delicious. I enjoyed the taste of Thai Basil. The beef strips were very tender and tasty. They include white rice at the bottom. The entrées were not large, but I was content. My husband probably could've eaten two of them.. He did say , I could have one for lunch ! Of course, You can ! I make an Asian Dumpling Soup, chicken broth with Soy sauce, Dark Soy for color, shakes of Oyster sauce and no you can't smell or taste anything but delish ! I buy frozen Pork dumplings at Walmart big bag. I use 12-16 frozen dumplings in the soup pot about 10 minutes before we're ready to eat. When the dumplings floated they're done and you don't want them to be mushy so you have to wait until you're almost ready to eat. I add as much fresh minced garlic as I want, the green and the white chopped scallions, you can save some for the top when you serve and just as the dumplings are floating to the surface, I throw in a large bag of fresh spinach. You know it will fast. I do not use any salt because of the chicken bouillon broth I use, but you do need to add white pepper. It hits your tongue in a different place than black pepper does and it's nice, a little warm. So when you play this up, give everybody 5 to 6 dumplings cause that's what they want with the broth, chopped with green scallions. and a few swirls around of sesame seed oil. It's like a finishing touch like extra-virgin olive oil on your pasta. So next time I buy the Thai basil beef I'll make the soup and serve that first ! If you google Asian dumpling soup, you will get the measurements of the seasonings, fresh ginger, or ginger powder and other vegetables, they might add to their Asian dumpling soup. I forgot that I used match stick carrots, and medium size onion chopped. So in actuality, you're sauté the onion and the white of the scallions with the carrots for a few minutes before you add your broth. You also can sliced mushrooms. You can use a little bit of avocado oil to sauté the veggies. When you serve the soup, give everybody six dumplings and some vegetables and drizzle some sesame seed oil on top if you have it. You can buy a little bottle and it must stay in the refrigerator. It's just a toasty warm nutty type taste enjoy
Terrific item! It does have fried rice, that comes with it. Just wish it came with a bit more portions of it, but it has a very good taste. Highly recommend
Fabulous meal. Great value. The taste is Devine. my lunch is always smelling the office up and the compliments are raving. You get, starch, protein and a veggie all in one. a must try
This is my second purchase. I had it last week and loved it. Pleasantly delicious so I bought more today. These come in so handy for a quick meal. Will stock up most definitely.
This brand is really good and I highly recommend it. Nice little meal for under $4. I gave 4 starts only because I liked it but I didn't rave over it like I did their Thai chicken curry. But this one is pretty tasty too - the basic comes out nicely and there is plenty of beef in the ratio to sauce and rice.
I had the beef basil with jasmine rice. A more accurate name would be green beans with jasmine rice - and zero discernible fresh basil flavor as depicted. The front box picture shows toothsome sizes of crumbles of ground beef. Not so. The sparingly included ground beef was definitely ground - but to the size of the grains of rice so it was difficult to discern the beef from the rice in your mouth. If you're a green bean fan, you're in for a party.
This is a good start. The meat I got both times was gristly which isn't appealing. The portion size is humiliatingly tiny, ummm add twice the meat and sauce please and twice the rice and buy better quality meat that has no gristle. ...really pack it in there. And 1/4 less hot spice. And please use carrots and cashews, red and green peppers instead of green beans which do not fit into this recipe at all. It's a good start. Guys get the chicken curry instead, its 100 thousand times more awesome. It's almost the perfect meal if it was twice the quantity. Are the people creating these people who eat like birds? Cmon!
As a side dish, you would need about 3 of these for two ppl. Even then, you better have plenty of OTHER FOOD because this is just a taste in each pkg. Not worth it.
This had almost no flavor at all. It does not taste like basil. The spice level says medium but it seems like there is zero heat. It is mainly rubbery rice with some very overcooked green beans. This is what it tastes like. The packaging says “a bold Thai basil sauce” but there is no sauce. There are no basil leaves in it like what is depicted on the packaging. The beef is literally two bites of tasteless ground beef. This was the most disappointing and tasteless microwave Asian meal I have ever had and I will not be buying it again.
