I'm still not up to speed using the sock loom but hope to gain speed and confidence as I learn more about making socks. There is a video online that is very helpful.
Great his and her sock looms! Tightly placed loom pins, which is important, because you don't want to constantly be pulling your stitches tight. Easy to understand directions, with several different stitch options. Reasonably priced.
Wonderful gift for a dear friend who loves to loom crafts and gifts!! They was excited to get it!!!
Just what I was looking for. The “his” is for most teens and adults. Sturdy and shipped pretty quickly
These are good looms for sock knitters. The KB loom company makes a well built loom.
Great for thin yarns to make socks .
Love these looms!
What a great set for a first time knitting loom user! These are super strong, has great online support (knittingboard.com has all kinds of pattern and Q %26A support) You can also find several YouTube videos using these exact looms. Arrives as pictured, two looms and a pick tool (?) Pamphlet instruction is minimal, internet, book or mentor is your best bet. WM has the best price online, I may buy a 2nd set so can make a set of socks at one time. I'm new to loom knitting, but so far, worth it!
I was able to knit a very dense sock using 4 gauge acrylic yarn (mainstays) on this loom with 1/4 inch (center to center) spaced pegs. I am fairly inexperienced and the instructions were clear to me. I had previously made my first sock on the kd brand baby loom set, but these included instructions explained the wrap and turn much better, so my sock looks very nice.
It's really difficult for me to decide if I would recommend this or not. For one thing, it's a lot harder to use than I was expecting. I already knit, but I struggle with thin yarn and one of the main things I wanted to make was socks. So I heard how easy loom knitting is supposed to be so I thought this would be easier for me. The motion are easy and I think it would be good for someone with limited mobility, and possibly someone that has never knit before, maybe even kids. But if you do know how to knit, already have at least some of the muscle memory movements down, I'm not sure this is worth it. The instructions are not super clear and I had to supplement them by checking online to see how to do certain stitches - but I also haven't made it past the first round because I keep unraveling the 'cast on' round (which I haven't figured out how to fix), usually by slipping the wrong loop off the pegs, having it accidentally slip off (yes, it can happen) or pulling my yarn out of the loop accidentally. All in all, I will need to practice a lot more with it before I get the hang of it, but I'm not sure it is a better choice for someone that already knits than just actually, you know, knitting the socks.
