This is a safety thing so I haven't been able to use it. It looks like it's the right size. It looks like it'll work. It's supposed to crack the glass and cut your seatbelt if there's an issue or you get caught up in it hoping I never have to really use it.
This was a present for my son. I had gotten him a hammer/belt cutter but he put that one in his work bag. (He drives a city bus). Also, there are situations where you can't swing a hammer. So, I got him this one for his car. Can't endanger the grandkids!
This is a very handy tool to have in case of an emergency. On one end you can punch and break out the glass in your auto for an escape route if needed or for a locked child or pet in a vehicle. It will also cut through a seatbelt easily if unable to release it at the latch in case of an emergency. I hope I never have to use either, but it is very good to have just in case. I keep it attached to my key chain.
The Auto Drive 2 in 1 Rescue Tool with seatbelt cutter and car window breaker is a handy little tool to have around in case of an emergency. I hope I never have to use it, but if I do, I hope it works as intended. Of course, I can’t give a testimony at this point whether it stands up as advertised. It’s made of durable plastic and has a nice design that fits in your hand comfortably. There is a push type tungsten steel glass breaker and the seat belt cutter is hidden under a smoked plastic cover that can be slid off when needed. Included is a keychain ring to have it with you every minute. Good to have for helping someone or yourself out of a vehicle in an emergency.
Obviously I can't go around slashing my seat belts or breaking my windows so I had to be creative with how I used this to review it. So first off this tool is small, which makes it good for just carrying it on your Keychain or tuck it away in your car somewhere. It's made of plastic that isn't too comfortable to hold. I sliced a nylon mask to show how it cuts and the blade is super sharp! So I'd say you can cut a seat belt easily. Overall 4 stars since I can't use this the correct way right now to give it 5 stars.
The item took quite a while to get delivered, real late. I was very confusing on how to fully use this tool. It did not come with any directions on how to really use it. There are two pictures on the package one shows how to use the glass breaker, that one is helpful. The second picture shows how to cut the seat belt, but it really does not explain how. I tried many different ways but nothing worked. You can see a blade inside but how to get to it? I finally pushed and Pilar everything finally it slipped open to expose the blade. I think they should include written instructions on how to open it up.
This is a window breaker and seat belt cutter combo. It is rather compact as a tool but a bit cumbersome as a key fob. It seems adequate for it's purpose, though the glass breaker needs a bit of effort to push. I've only been able to test it on quarter inch plastic, but it does crack that easily. The seatbelt cutter has a fairly sharp blade.. Now here's the down side. It comes with no instructions and to get to the blade, you must pull the cover off by pulling the key ring. So in an emergency, you'll need to find it first. The black color may be an issue. Next, if you decide to cut the belt first, remember Murphy's law in regard to an exposed blade when using the glass breaker no matter how guarded the blade may be. If you purchase this tool, practice with it a couple times. You may not have time later.
So in a pinch, hopefully this will work as expected and save lives, however, it was very difficult to remove the cover for the seatbelt cutter. I think if I was underwater and trying to cut my seatbelt, I would have drowned. It took about 3-5 minutes to get it off and when it did finally come off I pulled so hard that the chain part broke. So I tucked into my glove compartment. Hopefully the tools work should I need them. I'm leaning towards returning it and getting the more costly one because should I need this.. I would really be angry at myself for trying to save $15.
I tried to return this item, unopened, because my son was not taking a cross country road trip as originally planned. But the customer service agent said this item was not on the receipt that I brought. Which I thought was odd, but believed her. As it turns out that it was on the same receipt with the other car items. Anyway, I figured we would keep this item since I didn't think we had the receipt. I opened the package and there were no directions. I had to figure it out on my own which wasn't intuitive and definitely not user friendly. In fact, the window break part wasn't easy to use and I cut myself - I would not recommend this project. And I still have not figured out how to get to the seatbelt part! And, to be honest, I'm scared to try since I might injure myself again. If I could give this item zero or less stars I would - that's how disappointed I am.
1. Weak thin chain that is too long for keychain 2. Plastic is likely to break. 3. Cover is impossible to get off in less than 2 seconds. It took more than five minutes to wrestle with it to get the cover off. 4. Window breaker takes a lot of effort to punch against window or other surface. It doesn’t seem like it uses the same material as the better known versions.
