AUTO METER 2891 2-5/8IN TACH, 6,000 RPM, BLACK

I needed a simple tach to keep an eye on what my engine was doing. There are cheaper tachs out there, but none of them are as accurate nor is the quality as good as the Auto Meter. The difficulty of installation I would rate as intermediate. Connecting the power and coil to the tach is fairly easy. Finding a dashboard light circuit to light the tach up at night, not so easy. The online support had good and accurate information about connecting the tach, but nothing about how to connect the lumination circuit. I used my multi meter to help trace wires until I found the right one. On my application I surface mounted the tach on the dash. There was a rubber grommet to protect the wires out of the tach, but the insulated wires were exposed. I used a piece of heat shrink to cover the wires and make my installation look better. Another thing I added was a corrugated plastic split wire protector to protect the wire that went into the engine compartment to the coil. The tach works great and I'm happy with it.
