I received this as a reviewer. Since it's winter where I am, I waited til warmer weather before starting my seeds. I have never used Coco Coir bricks before. I love it! 3 bricks in the package. Simple to use. Just soak in warm water, wait for expansion, then break up. I added perlite for my indoor containers for more drainage. Outdoors in my hanging baskets I will shape and place in my flowering plants and watch the blooms emerge. This is great for all my starter seed trays and for repotting my sensitive succulents. A nice price and the expansion gives you a lot of product.

These three coco coir bricks came with no directions in the packaging so I had to look back at the walmart listing to get the amount of water to add. It said for each brick between 4-6 quarts of water, so I added 5 quarts. 5 was too much, and it was very soupy... 3 quarts would have been better. But this is not such a big deal, I can leave this soupy stuff sit out for a few days and the extra water will evaporate off, OR I can mix this in with some dry potting soil I have - which I usually do anyway - I never use this as a stand alone product - always as a mix with soil because it isn't suitable for heavy feeding plants like tomatoes or peppers. I use this as an amendment to improve the soil I have. It takes a few hours to fully expand once the water is added, be patient. You can help it along by breaking up the brick as it begins to expand - but not necessary. It will do fine without help. This stuff is a must have for me. I mix 50/50 with potting soil to start my seedlings and I use about 20% coco coir / 80% regular soil in my raised garden beds. It helps my soil retain moisture, and it's just handy to have on hand because it comes so compacted and is easy to store, does not take up much room.

I have not worked with coconut coir before. This coir is very fine with some dust. One brick was broken and was loose inside the bag. I used that brick to test, soaking it for several hours. Some websites said it needed to be rinsed of salt but because it was so fine I did not try that. I left it in the bucket that I soaked it in and noticed that the top has dried out, so watch your seed starts to be sure it doesn't get too dry. I added some perlite and compressed soil. I am using this to start some vegetable seeds - lettuce first and soon some tomatoes, and some marigolds and nasturtiums to plant around vegetables and roses. By starting the flowers indoors I hope they will be close to blooming or blooming when the crops and roses need them. I thought the coir would expand more than it did when soaked. It appears the volume is between 2 and 3 times the brick volume.. I'm looking forward to trying this coconut coir and making my own seed starter.

first seriously?? absolutely no directions. had to take time to look at annoying utube to see what to do. i had never used used this product but had heard good things. well maybe for some thats true but it was a very time consuming product for me. much easier for me im sad to say to just use a product in a bag

There is a really good description on the size of them. They are much smaller than imagined. i will return them. and get the much latger ones from homedepot. for the same price.

The bricks were much smaller than I expected. The video I saw was watered and filled up a large, raised garden bed. These might fill up a pot.

It doesn't do what it should do at all. Didn't spans or grow after putting in water. Waste of money and time
