As a family with celiac disease in the home, this gluten-free oatmeal is a much more affordable option than Bob's Red Mill which we've used for years.
Oatmeal makes a healthy breakfast and Avelina is great value for the money. Inexpensive and healthy. I only like the old-fashioned oatmeal.
loved this brand. no fancy packaging. lot of fiber. highly recommended.
Great price quality product
Cooking instuctions made me laugh. Actual ratio of water to oats should be 2 to 1. 2 cups of water to 1 cup of oats will give you 2 servings. The bag says 1 tablespoon of oats to 2 cups of water. I make 2 servings for myself and eat about 3/4 for breakfast. Cooks up just the way I like my oatmeal. It's not mushy and you can see the individual oats. Also has the best price I've found for oatmeal and comes in a bag, so less waste. I don't review many products. This one is worth the time.
Great product at a fantastic price. One thing to mention is the cooking instructions on the package are very inaccurate, but I'm rating the product not the instructions.
good product for the price.
The oats were excellent. The cooking instructions were very wrong! Correct measurements for stovetop are: 1/2 cup oats 1 cup water or milk 1/8 teaspoon salt
they're certified gluten free, that's great. I've eaten roughly 15 bags of this stuff, and most recently 2 this past week, and had a slow build up of an old feeling of gluten exposure [slow gut/ no digestion, being full for days]. took me a week of excessively eating homemade fruit bars made with these oats [and other ingredients that are known to be safe] to start having digestion issue like i had pre-diagnosis. i can't tell you that these are indeed gluten free, but oats are peculiar in that they are often grown in wheat fields/ contain stray grain and transport in the same truck beds, and im assuming these oats exclude that SOME how. they're often packaged in a gluten containing facility, again, to be certified you need to be 20 ppm or less. i will note, what's worrisome about oats is their use of glyphosates, and how it reacts with celiacs. these oats MAY be gluten free [20 ppm or less], but that doesnt make them celiac safe gluten free. if they are celiacs safe in terms of containing 0 gluten [doubtful] they likely contain glyphosates. i knew this was a possibility buying these bags, but for the cost of oats, i had to try. you can avoid glyphosates by buying organic oats. if it wasn't for the distinction of me being celiacs, and seeing others brag about how they're CD safe, which obviously doesn't include everyone who will want these oats, as gluten free labeling isn't for celiac patients, it's for people who are diet fadding or are intolerant of 20ppm or up. i thought these oats were great, much better than store brand and big name brand. if they came out with an organic gluten free oat it would recieve 5 stars. not everyone will react to the glyphosates, and i highly doubt many people will eat as many oats as i did within a short amount of time to react. all i know is, i have a very terrible time when my CD activates, and my diet is extremely bare bones to the point of 12 individual ingredients, 5 of them being home sourced, it was somewhat easy to isolate the oats [on top of me eating a ridiculous amount of them] unfortunately gluten free doesnt insinuate celiac safe, for those who think different, i feel sorry for you. ive had this issue with other products to the point i cant trust companies and their terrible ingredient labeling. this isn't a fault of the oat company. they very well can be gluten free, that doesnt make them cd safe, and they aren't organic so they likely Contain excess glyphosates. sucks. but is what it is.
