Awntech Houstonian Metal Standing Seam Slope Window/Door Awning

This is my second of these awnings. The first was larger. For a smaller awning like this one, 1 person can assemble and move around (at least I could). Lifting and mounting: 2 person job for something this size, 3 on the larger ones. Not so much heavy as it is the process of holding it up with trying to bolt to the house. Helps to put a 2x4 on the wall under the 'legs' to support it while attaching. I use wood behind the awning when there's vinyl siding. May need to add blocking in a wood wall. Be sure to use good lags/bolts when attaching. Assembly notes: Use clamps to hold things while putting on the roof panels. The screws can be 'moody'--be patient and let them find their way thru the plastic. Don't over tighten or may strip. A drill helps with the screws. Both of mine had a slight 'bend' in the roof, but not so much it was a major issue. It's a nice product. Stable and holds off the rain/weather if installed right.

Very well constructed. Installation requires two strong people given that it must be installed fully assembled and lifted into place before anchors can be fastened.

Had to buy better anchors. These yellow ones are cheap.

this is an amazing awning and more competitively priced than Home Depot. He requires a strong, smart man or woman to install. I bought two.

screws for attachment were too small! not strong enough for weight.

Installation is not bad, instructions are generic so they don't 'exactly' match the model ordered and don't tell what size of masonry bits you'll need. The hardware is the cheapest possible. Go buy a 4 pack of 1/2 inch brick anchors with masonry bit from the hardware store. 1/2 inch is too large for the provided anchors, 7/16 is too small. Half the nuts/bolts fit 1/2 in wrench, the other half are poor quality and need a 14mm wrench to fit. You'll need a 5/16 to drill for the upper drip plate anchors (all info not in the instructions). One panel was poorly painted and reworked at the factory with a brush. The blotches and brush strokes easily stand out next to the sprayed panels when viewing from the road. I added a thin bead of silicone under the panels to help reduce the drum sound of rain on metal sheets; it really helps, but it could use a cross-bar remove more drumming.

The product has a design flaw that the factory knows about. We spent several hours additional to assemble as we had to modify bad parts. Called factory to get some compensation for extra labor cost. They refused and said deal with Walmart who also refused so out several hundred dollars of labor as I bought 8 awnings.

We assembled this item, and at the very end when we were putting the metal sheets on top, realized they were all 1/4" too short. They are supposed to overlap the frame so you can screw them in at the top, bottom, and sides. We tried to bend them to fit, but no luck. All we ended up doing was scratching the paint off. Returned the defective item to Wal-mart for refund. Big disappointment.
