I read all the positive reviews before ordering, but I guess no item is going to work for everyone. I bought this set when the thermostat on my Bio Ionic OnePass failed (again). I absolutely hate the BaByliss flat iron. I have burned myself both times I tried to use it. There's no protection for fingers if you get near the hot end (unlike Bio Ionic). The controls are hard to see with tiny buttons and analog technology. I don't feel comfortable with the way it comes together on hair sections. It seems to set tighter on one side than the other. Also, there is no latch to shut the unit for storage. One good thing: it has a super heavy duty cloth power cord. The paddle brush, however, is a game changer for me. It has a digital control that is, oddly, controlled by a spinning cylinder. The unit smooths out my thick, wavy hair without too much heat and in almost no time. The paddle brush doesn't get you to straight, but does get you to frizz-free. Only negative is that the power cord is flimsy. On this duo, I guess one out of two ain't bad! Giving the flat iron to GoodWill.
