Bachmann Trains G Scale Night Before Christmas Ready To Run Electric Train Set

I have owned this train, as well as the Jingle Bell Express train by Bachmann, for 2 years now. We've moved into a new home this year and this train just really completes the Holiday look inside our home. It's a high quality train that the kids can play with.... but it is a pretty expensive train so use your judgement. We leave out the straight track pieces and have it under our tree. It's a really great conversation piece as well. I would recommend as I feel my experience with Bachmann has been top notch. Both the trains I own I've been impressed with.

I love the Caboose - Its the closest resemblance of the one in the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum 'B&O No. C-1775' the double window/side or No.C-2222 Caboose the quad windows/side version'.

Nice size, to run it around the Christmas tree. Working light, Chucking Sound and Smoke. Big open cargo car, where small trees or a Santa figure can be seated. The Santa comes with the train set fits in the caboose doorway.

I have been looking at this train set for quite some time. I recently purchased this set online, and received it relatively quickly. The train set's appearance is very nice, however, it did not perform well once I placed the locomotive on the tracks. Upon closer inspection, I found one of the plastic components was broken, and of course that affected the locomotive's performance prior to its derailment. The overall quality of the set is not what I expected from Bachmann. I have two other train sets from Lionel, and their metal components are much sturdier than Bachmann's fragile plastic components. The tracks are not of great quality either, and it takes a substantial amount of time to connect them. Because this appears to be such a fragile train set, I would not recommend it for young children, and I would suggest that the manufacturer use more protective packaging to safeguard the set from the hazards it may encounter during shipping. It's really a great looking train set, and I really wanted it, but due to its fragility, I can't imagine it would last very long. I returned this set immediately.
