Backyard Discovery Somerville 14x10' Cedar Wood Patio Pergola Kit, Trellis Roof, PowerPort

We picked up this kit, not knowing if we could put together ourselves. We downloaded the bilt app and reviewed the directions. Not very clear on the printed directions. We put the 1st part together, when we were putting the 2nd part together we found that the 1st part was backwards. After that everything went together great. Needed 4 persons to stand the ends up to put the top part on. Took about 12-14 hours, not 5 like the directions say. Pretty easy and it looks beautiful. Great addition to our backyard.

Relatively easy to put together as long as you have enough people to raise it up. Instructions are okay but only if you are installing it on a perfectly flat surface. Since my concrete pad had some slope for water runoff I didn't install the corner brace bolts to the upright posts until I had it raised up in place.

Great value, especially with the lumber prices as they are now. Instructions are very detailed, make sure to pay attention. I messed up on one part, but it was my own fault. I like that it is pre-stained. Takes a full day to put together. You only need a 2nd man for about 30 minutes during the process. The rest of the time, they would just be in the way.

A nice addition to our backyard patio. Pay attention to ALL of the alignment holes, not just for the nuts and bolts, but where a wood screw would eventually go! Found myself going a little too fast and not realizing that pre-drilled holes didn't line up where they should have! Slow down and you can figure it out. I did add additional 1x1's on the top to close the space between them. Stained to match and created more shade. Hung a strand of party lights and is a really nice place to hang out around our table for 8. I like the power strip addition, includes 3 USB charging ports, very nice!

It's beautiful and perfect location close to the lake behind our house. It was not that difficult to install with two people. The only challenge was to make the foundation where the pergola was installed.

Took three strong guys and an intelligent woman to read directions to assemble in about four hours. Sturdy and solid. Makes our empty concrete patio a real outdoor retreat

The pergola came shipped with some damage to a couple of boards. Used them anyway, placed them to the back and touched them up with stain. Finished unit looks great well worth it. Make sure you're-stain in a year or two to help preserve the wood. I'm 69 and I had no problems doing it, but did work construction most my life.

This is a great unit. It went together easily and had good instructions. All the big parts fit great with very little finagling. The top top slats were screwed in with wood screws and didn't line up very well, so I recommend snapping a chalk line. I plan to install an inner tarp/curtain anyway, so we won't see it. I love the electrical outlet included, which came with a mounting template, so good there. Now for the negatives. First, it's cedar, so the wood is soft. You need to have a tarp down or the finish will get scratched on concrete. Second, the "feet" that you use to secure it to the ground. I don't know how to complain appropriately, but you'll see how hard this would be. Not sure what to do about it, but let's just say I'm going to pray there are no aerodynamic qualities here and it will be fine.

A few of the pieces were broken so we had to wait an additional two weeks for the replacement parts. The project definitely requires 3-4 people for construction and you must pay very close attention to the instructions. It looks very nice but the quality of the wood isn't great. The wood is stained but does not have an all-weather finish on it.

The pergola is beautiful however some of the wood was warped and cracked. Had to use wood glue and restain a bit on the cracked pieces and position the warped pieces a certain way so it wasn't too visible at a glance. Otherwise it's a beautiful structure.
