Backyard Discovery Weston Cedar Swing Set

Let me tell ya...this set has what looks like a million pieces! My wife and I laid everything out on the ground and took inventory. Takes just about an hour to do that. Next, we opened the hardware bag and placed each individual bag on a table for ID purposes. Then we got to work! I looked over the instructions and we proceeded on. Started on it at 10 am on a Saturday and finished just after 5 pm the same day. Took about an hours worth of lunch and breaks. My tip for this build, is to pay attention to the E1, E2, E3, and E4 boards. It is critical that these boards face a certain way for pilot holes to line up properly during later installation. If not, then you get to make your own...lol. This was a fun build and I was very grateful to my wife for her help. A good helper makes it go together very smoothly. Our grandson is almost two years old and he loves it! My neighbors daughter is 7 or 8 and she is enjoying it as well! We are very pleased with this product!

This took my husband and I about 8hrs to put together, the directions are really pretty detailed compared to other self assemble products, all the parts are individually bagged and labeled, the wood pieces are marked too. The quality is great for the "on sale" price we paid. Our son is only 4 yrs old so this is a great size for him, my 7 yr old niece fit well on it too. With a 5 yr warranty by the time it runs out he will probably be moving on to bigger and better things than a backyard swing set. All considered this is a great investment we aren't sorry we bought it, also going to add some of the assessory pieces like captain wheel and telescope kind of things.

My husband and I were SUPER surprised to see it all fit in one box lol but we love the set!! It was fairly easy to put together and looks fantastic! Our 2 year old daughter has no trouble climbing the ladder/rock wall and going down the slide! I cant wait to watch her enjoy this play set for years to come!

Compared with similar products that have similar features, I believe that this swing set is one of the best values around. Having said this, be prepared to spend a full day to assemble it yourself. The instructions are not bad; there is simply a lot to do. I assembled this by myself, but I did need my wife's assistance for a couple of steps such as putting together the slide and connecting pieces of the frame. The instructions indicate that you need various tools, but all you really need is a power drill with certain size drill bits and a screw driver bit. I recommend doing as much as you can in your garage or on a patio because you will invariably drop screws/bolts/washers and they can be hard to find in the grass. Also, start by laying out all of the pieces in an organized fashion because it will end up saving you time. Most importantly, note where the larger pieces of wood have small holes drilled on one side because while the instructions don't highlight the importance of this, the location of these small holes becomes important later on.

Seems ok. Only been up for a few days. Note: When putting the main sides together, keep an eye out for the very small fine holes on the sides of the main boards(upright beams, E1--E4). These tiny holes need to face outward. The instructions weren't real clear on this, and we made the mistake. We never fixed the mistake because it would have required too much work, we didn't discover the mistake until way later in the project. If the mistake is made, you will just have to drill your own holes, it doesn't create a major issue. Good playset for the cost.

Overall great for the price. At the end we did have a board split but we will just call and get a replacement part. My kids love it! Our boys are 1.5 and almost 4. We bought it for our oldest son's birthday. For the price I feel it was a very good purchase!

Very well engineered. Quality materials. I wasn't particularly thrilled with the 3 piece construction of the slide, and it was the most difficult part of the assembly. The instructions could have been better, you really need to pay attention to where holes are located on the wood and how the wood is positioned for the holes are hard to make out on some of the assembly instructions. I've been reading fabrication blue prints for 40 years so it was relatively easy for me. But the do it yourselfer really should take there time and pay attention to detail. Pay particular attention to the positioning of the four 2x4 uprights for the slide/rock wall assemblage. I liked the fasteners used cause they don't allow any sharp bolts sticking out. Most of all I feel safe letting my Grandsons play on this equipment. I built this myself but it took me 3 days working about 4 hour each day.

This playground isn't for someone that has never built anything. The directions are good but only tell you so much. There are 91 boards in the box most of them are shorter than 32". When assembled you see how small it is. My child that is 5 is almost to big for the tower. There is no way she'll use it till the age of 10. When completed with stakes in the ground this swing set is surprisingly solid. All in all I believe it's a good set just a little on the small side

Clear your schedule for the day before taking on this project. I am pretty handy and had the power tools to do the job but it still took 9 hours to complete the job. I gave 4 stars because one of the small support boards was broken. I was able to recreate it from a piece of scrap 2x4 I had laying around with my table saw and miter saw but most people don't have access to these tools. You will need an a drill to put this together. You will not be able to put it together with the small cheap hand tools they provide. I would also suggest have at least 2 people put this swig set together. Once it was complete it looks great and my daughter loves it. It is very sturdy but make sure to anchor it to the ground to added stability. Over all this is a great buy and it will give you a since of accomplishment once you are done.

It wasn't hard to put together, instruction were a little backwards, so we put it together out of order. It's very sturdy, structure, ladder, swings. The slide is not, it's a 3 piece slide and the center is flexible, not sturdy for larger child luckily mine is only 4yrs. The tower is small again not ideal for larger child. I would've splurged the extra money to get a larger set had I known this on was so small.
