I'm very satisfied with my cover so far. Only issue is that it does get a little wet in the corners of the bed back near the tailgate. Most of the bed was dry. Nothing major. Installation was easy. It took me about little over an hour to. Plus the week after I purchased it they had a sale on the same cover on their website. I reached to Real Truck customer service and they agreed to refund me the difference for the sale price. Great company to do business with. Plus it made in USA.
I had one of the original revolver bed covers on my F250. It held up great until the felt strips started coming detached. I tried reattaching them and nothing would work. Without those felt keepers the cover would stretch and deform. But. . . it did last for like 6yrs. Well passed warranty. So now that it's been redesigned I didn't hesitate to hump on another! They're easy to install and look great.
My new cover looks and works excellent! I paid someone to install it and his workmanship was top notch. Only time will tell about the durability and quality but for now I'm very pleased. I plan to buy some 303 aerospace cleaner/conditioner to help maintain the vinyl. The
I previously had a BakFlip for my 2019 RAM, and when I got my 2023, marketing from Peragon convinced me to switch brands. That was a mistake. Although the Peragon permits full access to the bed when the cover is removed, they fail to mention in marketing materials that if your load contents shift to the front during travel, you won't be able to open the cover until you shift them rearward. Also, the folding design permits any standing water on the cover to drop into the bed. when opened. By contrast, the X4s is now an even better design than the BAKflip. I can't quite use all of the truck bed with the cover rolled up, but it's enough to load my dirt bike and close the tailgate on a 6' 4" bed. BAK has obviously done a better job of thinking before building.
Very easy to install and works well. Appears to be good quality and the smooth look when closed is super nice. Seemed to be packed well but did have a slight bend in one side rail from shipping and I was able to straighten myself. I would recommend to others.
Install is very simple and quick. Needed to slightly (not noticeable) bend up the rails so the automatic tailgate would close. Keeps the bed clean and mostly dry get a few drips & drops sneaking in. Very solid, rolls up easy, very clean appearance - looks factory installed. Nice to keep full use of the truck bed. Minor & expected winter issue. Freezing rain & ice can make it problematic to both open the tailgate and roll up the cover. Sun quickly warms the black cover and frees it up. Could leave the last piece unlatched (like putting up wipers) to prevent it as well.
I have had soft rollup, soft folding. Wanted a hard cover, I like the rollup better, good bed access, without blocking the rear window. Rolls up easily. Installation straight forward took about an hour, had to run to the hardware store. One missing bolt.
Cover looks good. There is room for improvement. Packaging could be better. When Fed-Ex drops it off the back edge of their truck it will put a bend in the cover up against the bulkhead. There are still a lot of aluminum shavings floating around so have a shop vac handy. Installation was easy although there were no paper directions.
The cover arrived without any damage which was nice since many complained about the shipping. The rails went on without any issues. I rolled the top out as explained in install instructions that I say and it it adjusted relatively easy. I had and still have issues with the area near the tailgate. The first one was the latches hung up and would not release from the rail. Found out by contacting BAK that they do adjust. After adjusting them the best I can and grinding back a 1/8 on the rail, it appears to be working fine. The support is a bit weak where the latches connect. When you press down to latch, the rails bend. Still have not come up with a good solution to help keep the rails firm. The corner caps at rear are garbage. One came broken. I did not say that at the beginning because there was a replacement in the box. Where the caps are, there are large gaps on both sides where water penetrates the bed. The caps are just aesthetic and do nothing for weather guard. Hoping someone has an answer for that because the truck gets a lot of water at those points.
X4S sturdy and low profile but in the second day after installation the opening latch line got broken when opening and got locked closed, then to get the warranty you have to open a ticket claim then wait for the answer from Bak industries, finally two weeks later the new lock assembly came by mail, now I have to pay again to remove the old one and install the new one, I'm handicapped and unfortunately can't do it myself. So how's possible a brand new X4S got broken in just one day after installation. Better quality control would be a big priority. .
