My only "problem" which it wasn't for my nephew was the pre-drilling of the hole in the plastic lip of the top body cover. A guide that would not require the clip be in place would have made this installation a bit easier for an old guy with kneeling issues like me. My nephew handled it with ease.
I was able to install this at home in about an hour, following the YouTube video on the Real Truck website. That was SUPER helpful. Really pretty straightforward. Getting minimal leaks (and I think that's mostly from the gap in the existing tailgate) and I've used it now in 2/3 open and full-open positions to haul things. Looks great on my 2025 Ranger.
This is my 3rd BakFlip install over the past 9 years! I like how easy they are to install. I also like the low, clean appearance of the cover yet how secure they are from casual thieves etc. This new iteration feels lighter and better hinged. I like it!! My only complaint if you can call it that is that the 3 block bumpers have always resisted my attempts to peal the paper from the double sided tape that reveals the sticky side so you can install the bumps to the last panel that rest on the truck rear window. I can never get those to work properly.
I really tried my best with help to make the side rail square with bed sides. The foam strip seems to put the rail at an angle. I loosened/tighted the rails to no avail. The cover does leak but not excessively but it leaks. Any advice would be appreciated. S.
Cover is good overall. The instructions could be clearer on the clamping the rails down section. Overall it looks good. However I had a bumper peice fall off already. The one that sits flush on top of the cover by the cab window when not in use. Hopefully it lasts a long time.
I have the newer version bakflip mx4 for a 22 tacoma. First of they sent it to me with missing parts then it took them weeks to send them to me. The bed cover is ok. Installation was a nightmare to get everything on properly, and still somehow one side sits a 1/4 inch higher by the tailgate. It should come over the tailgate further and sit lower also, water is able to get in that space and someone could stick something in there to hook around the cable to open the bed cover. Overall it all just seems overpriced, every aspect of the bed cover and experience feels like it should be half the price. After doing some research it sounds like this product is going down hill from what it used to be, driven by the greedy people behind it I imagine. I would recommend looking elsewhere, I'm sure there are more affordable and/or better quality options out there.
I set a tire on top and drove around the building, which is about 200 yards and that's a big circular scratch on it. I didn't realize I was buying something with such a soft surface where I wouldn't have. Truck denied my request to return it even though they have the monopoly the industry. I'm not impressed.
I originally had a cover bought off amazon and it fits perfectly. I wanted to have a stronger cover and tried this one. However, water seeps in when it rains and in carwashes. My original cover bought cheaper from amazon doesn't do that. I hope they created it a little 0. 5 longer. Waste of $$$$.
I ordered my part almost a month ago. I have not received it. I tried numerous times to get an update with no success. I am heading out for an extended trip and I needed the topper. Now I have to consider not having the part I needed for my trip. To add insult to injury I am being asked how I like the part I never receive. Kind of silly. Not a great first experience of a company that is “apparently” highly regarded. I am not a person of high expectations I just would like to know if I will get my part in time to install it before my trip. They took my payment. Will they be just as eager to return it? We shall see in 2 days when I will demand a refund.
Canceled my order because it wasn't available. Although after a couple weeks the cancelation is still pending. I no longer trust this company. I simply wanted to cancel and order something else or different make but was not going to until I knew my previous one was canceled. Been too long and I have moved on.
