Bakol, 100% Natural Jel Dessert Strawberry, 3 oz

I purchased this vegan gelatin to make a poke cake for a Muslim friend who'd never had it before. Because regular Jello may contain pork products she can't eat it. I was cautiously hopeful about this product at purchase, but now I'm VERY pleased with it. It tastes just as good as Jello, maybe a little less artificially sweet, but more like fruit. As an ingredient in poke cake, however, this product absolutely SHINES. It gels much faster than regular Jello (as in will get a little clumpy when still warm) but this is a good thing for cake application. Most poke cakes get a little soggy on the bottom because regular Jello takes so long to set. With this vegan product, the quick setting nature means the gelatin incorporates into the cake without soaking through. This gives a great poke cake texture without the soggy bottom. The cake was an absolute hit; my friend LOVED it, and I have a fantastic new product in my baking cupboard. (The cake was lemon flavored with the strawberry gelatin, topped with cool whip, in case anyone wants to try it. It was very tasty.)

Used this to make a "jello salad" for Thanksgiving for my mother, who has been vegan and diabetic for over 30 years. It was a big hit! I combined the powder with vegan "cream cheese", vegan "whipped cream", and frozen strawberries. She loved it! And the non-vegan and sugar eating people who tried it loved it as well. Delicious!

Set too quickly for the recipe I was using. Also said not to substitute, and they did. I ordered 4 strawberry. I got 1 strawberry and 3 cherry.

used for jell-o shots for vegetarian friend. 1 minute out of the fridge it was like it hadn't been in there all night. like crumbly dry wall that made tito's taste like hawkeye. and a hint of strawberry. i also made other jell-o shots with normal jello so i know the recipe wasn't the issue! let's just say he did not stay a vegetarian that night.

beware! they failed to show the ingredients in the pictures and list completely different ingredients that are on the box! This product is mainly carrageenan, which is used to provoke inflammation in lab studies. we spend so much time making sure our foods do not contain harmful ingredients, and the description is highly disappointing bc we were so excited to finally have a natural, safe jel desert..very deceiful!

The worst gelatin dessert I have ever eaten! Did not taste like strawberry!
