Composter

Laurie July 18, 2021

I had been storing my compost in a large ice cream bucket so I was delighted when my children gave me one for Mother's Day. It definitely beats an ice cream bucket sitting on my counter! My only negative comment would be that the charcoal filter gets moldy and needs to be washed but then it becomes flimsy and will no longer stay in the lid, mine continues to fall out in my compost.

Beautiful and works well

Alisa L October 7, 2021

This compost bin is the perfect accent piece to our newly remodeled kitchen. I love the matte finish and the terracotta color surprised me with how well it goes with my pale-green and grey Ikea cabinets. It works well too. The filters and design of the top keep the odors trapped inside and it holds plenty of food waste. So happy with my purchase!

Love that it is biodegradable

Isabella D September 13, 2021

great composter for the short term and for a small apartment kitchen. I am looking to invest in a larger composter later on but this does the job for now! I like that I don't feel bad about getting rid of it eventually because it is made form natural materials

2 years owning this - stylish and does what it should!

Canusa March 4, 2022

This item is stylish and does what it advertises. We've had it for ~2 years now and are still very happy with it. We put compost in it every day (family of 3-4 depending on when the college kids are home). We keep it on the counter all the time, emptying it maybe once every 2-4 days. It can get funky in there after several days, especially in the summer, but we don't notice it with the lid closed. We don't use a liner bag. We do put a piece of paper towel on the bottom to absorb a bit of gunk that might get down there - seems to make it easier to clean up if that happens. I rinse the can and wipe it after every use, sometimes with some kitchen cleaning spray. Pros: -great looking on the counter -not too large, but holds what our old ice cream bucket held more or less -easy to clean because of the size of the mouth -carbon filter seems to keep odors down (never tried it without) Cons: -lid is a bit heavy and smooth, and i dropped it once and broke off a piece of the inner ring that holds the carbon filter in place. I easily superglued it back together and no problems after. -bamboo handle wood color does fade a bit over time, presumably because it's hard not to get it wet when you wash it. -the can material in the gray color does get a little streaky, even when wiped, at times, but seems to go away Other comments from users: -some have commented that the handle screws come loose. We've had ours two years and never had that issue. I've never needed to tighten them. -some have commented about odor. We have never even bothered to replace the carbon filter. I rinse it once every couple of months lightly (carbon still does come off when you do that). We don't have odor issues even leaving food waste in there for a few days. Summer time requires more frequent dumping and cleaning as it gets funky in there sooner. (our house interior is 68-70 in winter, and 75-85 in summer)

Great Little Bucket

Diane M May 9, 2021

This product was recommended to me as a newbie composter. It sets on my kitchen counter ready for the next stash, takes up little space, and is a good color match (slate). The filter does a great job keeping any smell away as does the bucket itself. It’s easy to transport, clean by hand or in the dishwasher. I recommend!

Composter

Zac W May 23, 2021

Terra Cotta color looks good. Has nice solid feel (better than expected). As other posters have mentioned, the bamboo handle has some darker spots in the bend but it's hardly worth commenting on my purchase and is clearly just the effect of using heat to make the bend. So far, my composter has none of the other quality issues some reviewers have commented on. Happy with purchase and will be interested to see how it holds up over time.

Counter top composter

Kelly O January 13, 2022

This little counter top composter is great! I have been using and the description is accurate and very well made. The filters do mask any odors. Once it’s full I empty into our larger outside composter and have cut down on many trips. Can’t wait to start gardening again when the weather is nicer!

For $50 this came scratched and with a glue smudge on it, which I don't think for the price it should.. .

Love it, until it Cracked!

Les C April 24, 2022

We used our composter happily for about 16 months. Then, a couple of weeks ago, when I was in the next room, I heard a very loud bang that came from the kitchen. Upon inspection I found that my Bamboozle composter had cracked in half. We have never dropped this item or placed it in the dishwasher, and due to logistics, do not use it in the winter months. This thing was tenderly cared for. I looked at the Big Daddy of online retailers, to see if this happened to others, and found many reviews with photos, of the exact same occurrence. Obviously this is a design flaw. I contacted Bamboozle, and Sam in customer service said that they only back their products for one year, but did thank me for being a loyal customer (I had also bought one as a gift.) Well, I feel Bamboozled (defined as trickery or deceit) because the company continues to sell the product knowing that it may not hold up over routine light use. So, how to I compost my useless compost bin, exactly? There are no bad reviews on this website. Why is that?
