Hubby loved his surprise box of corn dogs by Bar-S! The Perfect Snack on a stick! His favorite flavor is the Classic Honey Batter Wrapped corn dogs! I'm sure his dog will get at least one bite! :) IF Bar-S would use Bleached Wheat Flour %26 NO extra Wheat Gluten THEN I could eat them too! Then they would be perfect for those of us who have IBS. There are a lot of us who would LOVE to have a Bar-S Classic Honey Batter Wrapped Corn Dog TOO! Please and Thank You!
In my household , do we have a boy with Autism, And he's really funny about textures and about what he will eat.We try to introduce new foods all the time. But what he will eat is these and dinosaur nuggets.I don't know why but that's his go to SHOW.It feeds him. That's all I can say he likes him.
I usually buy more premium hotdogs that are all beef. I have had Bar-S hotdogs in the past and was not a fan. The corndogs are actually very good and can't beat the price. The dogs are mildly flavored and are firmer than Bar-S hotdogs. If you nuke them the cornbread batter is doughy as others have pointed out. I toss them in the oven at 350 for around 20 minutes and they turn out great.
I bought a different kind of corndogs before these not realizing they were 'chicken' and not beef. They weren't bad but once I tried these, I wouldn't go back to the others. They breading has a sweet taste and the dog is just better! My favorite brand of hotdogs as well.
I hate giving these three stars because they are pretty decent but there is one flaw......cooking these according to the directions the batter on the inside is raw. you can try to cook them longer but then they'll burn so I just have been eating them with raw batter on the inside.
This brand reminded me of my childhood and that's exactly where they need to stay!! From now on,when I am feeling nostalgic, I'll just treasure the memory. Oh my gosh, the hot dogs were ridiculously hard, not enjoyable to eat!! The breading didn't taste bad at first, just give it a second!! The breading has a horrible aftertaste!! I rarely ever give a negative review but, I am sorry they definitely deserved it!!
these used to be great. bought them last month and they were fine. bought them this month and they were disgusting. the hot dogs were replaced with rubbery, horrible tasting, skinny and tiny hot dogs. the outside of them crack all the way down making the outside fall off and not even dippable. these are the most disgusting things I've ever seen in my life and as someone who has been buying them for over 2 years I will never buy another box
Throwing away. My bf cooked me some. I started eating, nasty. Inside it was hard and dark. I assumed he overcooked them. I made some on my own recently, and no, it was the same thing, soggy breading, nasty old and dark filling inside, all shriveled up.
I have ordered these before what happened to the recipe they should be following. Where is the hot dog that should be inside the dough. This is disappointing and disgusting. They taste like crap to put a blunt. If this is what to look forward to, I'll never order them again and I'll be passing on the disappointing purchase experience.
This brand of corn dogs is so bad we threw them away after tasting them. There's a weird, unpleasant metallic taste, too salty, dry as the Sahara Desert. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth. The hot dog itself looked like they used mutated meat! When heated (ACCORDING TO THEIR INSTRUCTIONS) the hot dogs shrivel up, some areas are hard as a rock and what's left, if any of the breading has separated from the hot dog Quality Control was lacking when they packaged this! Half of the breading is missing, the others are missing chunks of the breading!
