I'm about 9 weeks past gastric bypass and struggling with proteins. This is a great option (even tho the carbs are higher than my dietician recommends) to get in some protein. I will say the microwave directions made a mess of my microwave. I would cook it on the stove to prevent a mess. It's very tasty and portion size is perfect. Will order more!
Warning, the serving size is small. That being said, if you're craving Mac n cheese the taste hits the spot. Because it is a small serving, I feel like it's not enough, yet it actually is. In my mind I need more. I either make 2 servings or use it as a side.
Mac and cheese was one of my go to "easy" dinners before I had bariatric surgery. I have missed being able to have it. This light version is perfect. The serving size is just right, even with a little veggies on the side. The cheese sauce is thick and creamy. I don't feel like I am missing out on an old comfort food. I love that its quick and easy for days I haven't had time to prepare regular meals. YUM!
I had a little problem with the amount of time it asked me to microwave it and made a mess a couple of times so I reduced the time and stirred it a couple of times and let it sit longer than it said. Once adjusted, it was a good sized serving and tasty once I added my Texas Pete!
Overall, this was not a bad alternative to macaroni and cheese. The taste was slightly weird and the cheese sauce was a little thicker than I liked, especially because it gets thicker as it cools off. However, it was not bad and I will definitely have it again, I may try to make my own version of hamburger helper with it.
First bag had to throw it away. Did not cook with instructions on box was a complete disaster. The second time I separated the cheese powder from the noodles cooked noodles in water in microwave then I blended. 4oz water/milk with cheese powder just slight tweak to the making and enjoyable. Anyone else have this issue just a few extra steps. A little extra cheese or parmesan and lean sausage and comfort food achieved.
I got a sample of this in the monthly box and it was heavenly! The sample did not indicate which Mac and cheese from the website I was sent. This one was not it. It was ok, but cheese has a strange taste. I still plan to eat it but not as excited as I was.
I use the stovetop method and I'm not sure if that's the reasoning to the Mac & Cheese being super soupy, but I was really hoping for something gooey and cheesey (or at least more like the picture) to feel like I'm having a good substitute. The taste is ok, again a bit watered down. Order was quick to deliver.
The flavor of the cheese sauce was good. The noodles never got soft even after an extra minute and a half in the microwave. I took 2 bites and was over it. Very small portion. Next time I will try it on the stove top and update my review if necessary.
I’ve tried other Bariatric Pal light entrees and have been pleased. However, the Mac and cheese was a huge disappointment. There were only ~5 noodles/pack. It seems there is an issue with packaging and appropriate ratios of noodles/cheese. Not worth the money.
