This works great on my senior short haired cat who has a thick coat and tends to mat. It gently takes off a ton of hair including newly forming mats with very little effort, time and no stress on the cat. Love the self cleaning feature. Retracting the tines also protects them between uses and eliminates the need for a separate cover. The handle is super comfortable. My kitty isn't crazy about being groomed but doesn't seem to mind this brush. (Note: As with all wire slicker brushes, the key is gentle, not aggressive use. If your cat has a thin coat or sensitive skin consider a different type of brush) The price of this brush is very competitive even without the much appreciated free shipping. Our cat with short but very dense fur LOVES this brush. We love the ease of cleaning it (and how much fur it removes!), and he loves the feel of it. All it takes is one or two clicks of the retractable bristles and he comes running. We don't have any issues with it tearing up his skin. I guess the trick it not being too aggressive with it. I'm getting another one for our long-hair cat.

Love this brush.Just used on my 8yr old cat who had 2 large mats in fur. Brush easy to use also i have hand issues and the cat now is mat free.

IT IS TOO SHARP TO USE ON MY CAT. I HAVE TO BRUSH VERY SLOW AND LIGHTLY IN ORDER NOT TO HURT HER; OF COURSE THAT WOULD TAKE FOREVER. I HAVE ANOTHER BRUSH I USE THAT DOESN'T HURT HER AND GETS THE JOB DONE. WITH COVID19 GOING ON, IT'S TOO MUCH OF A HASSLE TO RETURN SO I WILL PROBABLY DONATE IT TO A SHELTER

The brush has the jagged wire ends that can dig into their skin and hurt them. Nice idea bit put something on the ends of the brush so it doesn't rip your animals skin.
