I immediately put this to use canning tomatoes. I had earlier discovered my old granite canning pot had a rusted hole in it where the coating had cracked off. That won't happen to this stainless steel one. The included SS steel jar rack works perfectly with the canner. The lid has a thermometer in the handle that seems to read low for me. I've never use one before, as I always cook at a "rolling boil" for 45 minutes for quart jars. This pot is not flimsy and seems to be of good quality.
Much better than my old canner, doesn't boil over as it has a steam vent in the lid. I was able to can 15 quarts, 3 loads, before having to add more water.
Wow. This did not disappoint. I am a first time canner with the proper tools. Made strawberry jam. This pot is high quality and so simple to use. My jam turned out perfect. Can't wait to move onto peaches!
I had to return a different canner because it rusted after just boiling hot water even though it was listed as stainless steel. This canner is great! Shiny finish and truly is stainless and does not rust. It even comes with 7 jars! It cost a little more but well worth it. It even has a steam canner function with a gauge on the lid.
It has preformed as promised and remains beautiful to look at as well as canning it can be used in my middle burner to cook down sauces for canning and to make large amounts of soups and stews.
Haven't used for canning yet but took it for a test drive with water on my little induction cooktop. Boiled water perfectly. Heavy duty with rack and lid.
This barton 20 quart bath canner is absolutely for canning your vegetables. It's beautiful and does a great job. great buy n i highly recommend this canner.
Very pleased with my purchase
I am in Ohio; getting to the canning part takes 45 minutes to an hour before the pressures move to the black/green zone. It's nice, but I accomplished the same in my soup pot and brought it to a rolling boil for 20 minutes.
Bigger than the largest burner on my stovetop however I filled it with lots of canning jars and the wire frame lifted nicely above the boiling water. Not sure if the thermometer in the lid handle works but it didn't matter to me
