Battat Hippodontist Dentist Plastic Play Set with 14 Accessories, Toddler and Preschool Toys

I purchased this toy to use in my preschool classroom during dental health month. The toy allows children to brush the hippos teeth and has dental tools to help clean the teeth. This is a great introduction to tools that dentists use and gets kiddos excited about taking care of their teeth.

My girls and their cousin have so much fun playing with this set. Slightly disappointing because the stains on the teeth don’t disappear with warm water like it says they should. But overall, a good buy.

We love our hippo dentist. The "color changing" spots on the teeth don't change with brushing them. Maybe If you pour scalding hot water over them they disappear for a couple seconds.. But it's still a fun toy, our kids enjoy it. Extra fun after a dentist visit :)

I purchased this item for my 3-year-old granddaughter. She's an avid toothbrusher and has been since she had her first few teeth... Lol. I love the concept behind the Hippodontist toy because not only does it teach the importance of having clean teeth, but allows toddlers the opportunity to pretend to be a dentist. However, the problem I have with this toy is based on the instructions, using "warm" water is supposed to clean the teeth of the Hippo. I am 100% ok with my granddaughter playing with warm water; however, it doesn't work with warm water at all. It takes very hot water to get clean results, and it is not safe or cool for toddlers to handle hot water at any time. My granddaughter simply adores the Hippo and playing in cold or warm water period, so we are keeping the toy. I just wish she could see the results without the risk of burning her little hands with "hot" water. Great idea, but not for toddlers.

So bummed. Was looking forward to this toy for my daughter but even with extremely hot water, the stains just don’t go away. Frustrating for me and my child, as that’s a big selling point.

Stains don't go away unless the water is scorching hot, which isn't ideal for young hands. Love all other battat products but this one was a miss for me

I thought my kids would enjoy this but it was a flop. The dirty parts of the teeth reappear instantly, so there is not point to try and clean it off. My 5 year old tried it for 2 minuets and lost interest when they couldn’t get the teeth clean, my 3 year old lasted 5 minutes but just because they enjoyed squirting the water out. They both just play with the dental tools now like a doctor kit and the hippo is forgotten.

Great in theory. I was super excited to show this to my child, but it seems to only work with scalding hot water.
