Great movie

I had seen this movie before but over the years decided that I wanted to see it again and I was not disappointed. Always liked Van Johnson and I think it is one of his best movies.

Battleground is a number of battles that happened during World War II. If you enjoy movies during that time frame, this DVD is worth your time and money.

A very fine film. You can tell that a lot of men in those days when all had to serve could relate to this as it is a soldier's story. Very well made and very realistic without the gore you find today. One of the better war films if you want to see it from the soldier's perspective.

ENJOYED THIS FILM EVEN THOUGH IT IS A HOLLYWOOD STYLE WAR MOVIE BUT THE ACTORS WERE GREAT AND MADE IT WORTH IT.

This is a good war movie.

The DVD Movie Battleground is a movie which primarily pertains to the American 101st Airborne Division and its participation in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. The Battle of the Bulge was Germany's last major offensive of World War II. The German code name for their battle plan was Operation Autumn Mist and their objective was to divide the Ally forces (British %26 Americans) and to retake the port of Antwerp thus cutting their supply lines. The German Offensive started on Deember 16 and ended on December 27, althougn the battle itself continued into late January. Troops from the American 101st Airborne Division were sent to defend the town of Bastogne which was a major crossroads and vital to the German Offensive. Although the movie contained many accurate historical facts and a Star studded Cast, I felt it focused more on the personalities, lives and personal relationships of a single platoon of the 101st Airborne then it did on the Battle and what effect the Ally Victory had on the outcome of World War II. I had also anticipated more combat action then the movie featured as the battle resulted in approximately 100,000 .German and 90,000 Ally casualties.
