I like the skillet a lot. However, I do have to flaws I would like to pass on: 1) Skillet is pretty heavy. 2) You must dry and oil it after every use.
Used it with my induction stove and dinner was ready in a flash! Perfect! No sticking just perfect and the square shape holds more food for a faster more satisfied family faster!
Love this square pan for cornbread. It falls right out of pan.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently added the Bayou Classic 12 Inch Square Cast Iron Cooking Skillet Pan with Helper Handle to my kitchen collection, and I'm genuinely impressed with its performance. This skillet has brought a whole new level of cooking experience right into my home. The craftsmanship of this skillet is top-notch. Crafted from superior cast iron, it feels incredibly durable and sturdy, which gives me confidence that it does withstand high heat cooking and heavy use. It's evident that this pan is built to last, which is definitely a positive attribute. The 12-inch square shape provides ample cooking space, allowing me to prepare a variety of dishes with ease. I've used it for breakfast favorites like pancakes and omelets, as well as for family-sized dinners. It handles all these tasks admirably. Aside from its performance, the classic black finish adds a rustic touch to my kitchen decor. I appreciate that it not only looks great but also ensures even heat distribution, leading to consistent cooking results. The helper handle is indeed a handy feature. It makes it easier to move the skillet from the stovetop to the table, especially when dealing with heavier dishes. The corners doubling as pour spouts are a thoughtful addition that simplifies serving. I highly recommend buying!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted a rugged cast iron pan to use at our hunting lease. I liked the size and the high walls of this pan. It easily holds enough rolls, pancakes, sausage, bacon, and you name it for a hungry group of people, and evenly heats throughout the entire surface. I really appreciate this because I've other cast iron skillets that didn't. It has good weight and balance and I highly recommend this to anyone that likes the ease and durability of cooking in a cast iron skillet.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this pan. It has given me versatility in the kitchen on how and what to cook. It is easy to season, easy to clean, and it is fun to cook with. I love how big and sturdy it is, too. I definitely recommend!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cast iron skillet is destined to become an heirloom. It's well made and heavy duty (8 lbs.) so the helper handle is needed. I like the square shape which makes it easier to fry up my steaks. I also use it on the gas grill and it works perfectly as a flat top griddle for making smashburgers. It's not a smooth finish but it comes preseasoned and is essentially non stick if you keep it seasoned and treat it right. The company logo is stamped into the bottom of pan but it still sits flat on the stove.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Trying to get some nice crispy potatoes, or bacon? This is your pan. It doesn't make the food stick easy, especially right of the bat. The well seasoned pan is easy to work with. Use it on the daily!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was quite surprised how lightweight this skillet is. The cast iron is a bit thinner than some, but is a fine trade off considering it's weight. This skillet is shaped in such a manner where you can use either side to pour. I do recommend seasoning before use. I also recommend picking up a cast iron cleaner sponge so you don't damage it. Not much to say.. absolutely worth picking up!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had several types of cast iron skillets over the years but this is my first square one. Of course, whenever I get a new cast iron skillet, I ALWAYS season it even if it's preseasoned. Since then I've cooked steaks, burritos, chicken, sauces and more. I haven't noticed any warping or uneven thickness, no rust, no cracks and even heating. So far so good and at this point I expect it'll last me many, many years! I can't wait to try using it on my woodstove this winter!
