Beef Cubed Steak, Tray, Fresh, 0.73 - 2.05 lb

Worked perfectly in crockpot with small white creamer potatoes cut bite size on bottom, can of Great Value beef broth, 1/2 can of water, Lipton’s onion soup mix, fresh onions cut coarsely in strips, little Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper on the meat and potatoes. I cut the cubed steak into about 2 1/2” strips. Crock 6 hrs on low. Mighty good. House smells divine. . Layer potatoes, soup, meat, Worcestershire ,onion soup mix, then water.

I often like to cook beef cube steak. If fried, the connective tissue can be to tough to chew. If used for long, slow cooked recipes, the connective tissue breaks down and tastes good. I recommend use in beef and gravy crockpot meals and slow cooked casseroles. As for the price, it is comparable to a chuck roast, and I often buy a large chuck roast and make 1 meal as a roast and another with cubes for soup and steaks for cube steak recipes.

The Quality of the meat was OK but I think it would be better if I picked it out but that’s what I get for not going in the store do it myself. We did eat it don’t get me wrong but I have been getting Disappointed several times in the product that I’ve been getting there lately

The flavor of this cubed steak was fine and I have no issue with the quality of the meat. I gave it a 4 star rating because of the illusion that you are getting 4 pieces the size of the two that you see from the outside of the package, only to find that the two back pieces are much smaller than the two you see. I believe it was deliberately packaged deceptively.

I liked the price. I liked the easiness for me to cook. the only thing that I could not rate highly is the fact that there was gristle that made it hard to chew at sometimes. The portions were adequate for me to cook for myself. I was sorry to see that there was too much gristle. in some of the potions.

I rarely give negative reviews. But the butcher preparing this meat and packaging it as “cubed steak” needs a refresher. The top of the meat looked great, but the bottom was very lightly pounded. Since it was thick, this made the meat too tough to make what people love about true cubed steak. This has happened the last several times I ordered it. It’s just the first time I’ve mentioned it because I feel it needs attention. I want to be able to buy great beef cubed steak EVERY time from the Cornelia Walmart. I’ll wait a month or so and try purchasing it again to see if it has improved. If so, you’ll get a great positive review from a long time Walmart Delivery customer. Though there was no fat on these steaks, it was riddled with gristle and too tough to eat. There was so little taste as well. I have worked in a meat shop, and one of my jobs was to run certain cuts of meat through the tenderizer and make them into cube steaks. Country/chicken fried steak is one of my favorite meals, so i know some things about cube steak. I've never had them so thick and tough as these cubed steaks from Walmart. Even though I pounded the heck out of them to tenderize them further, they are simply un-chewable! I doubt there was as much protein in these as there would have been in old shoe leather. I'll never make this mistake again.

I prepared country fried steak wirh this cube steak just as I have for years. This meat could not have been worse. With cube steak there is the expected occasional vein of gristle, but this was awful. 85% was gristle and that was on the top two "pretty pieces" in the package. I am glad I only had one guest for the meal. The flavor was as expected, but when you have to spit out gristle on all but two bites per steak, that's beyond acceptable. A waste of my time and ingredients that ended up in the trash. Do better! Totally unacceptable!

Prepared for evening meal, very disappointed due to each piece having substantial gristle within so we were unable to actually eat any of the meat and it all was trashed. Loss of money on this poor meat product. Would hesitate giving to small children, could choke.

Cubed steak is a frequently purchased item for our family, and this was not at all like the cubed steaks I had purchased from other stores. I expected that the meat would be tenderized, either by pounding with a mallet or processed through a machine. This meat was barely scored. I cooked it as I usually do cubed steaks, but it was so tough that it couldn't be eaten. It also lacked much flavor. I would have given it to our dog, but since I seasoned it with garlic, it had to go into the garbage. At over $8 per pound I am very disapointed.
