Beef Stew Meat, Tray, Family Pack, Fresh, 1.75 - 2.25 lb

I was half expecting a photo of a bovine clan in matching sweaters when I saw the label ‘Family Pack'. The packaging never clarified whether this is a nuclear family of calves, a cow-cousin extended clan, or some sort of bovine commune. I imagined tiny cow-babies holding hands, but the only thing I actually got was a solid block of meat that could have been the patriarch, matriarch, or just a random cousin. When I finally dropped the thing into a pot, the stew turned out surprisingly tender - like the meat had been whispered sweet nothings by a grandma before being tossed in the broth. It held together better than my last attempt at a salad, which, let's be honest, is a low bar for cohesion. The protein content was impressive, making me feel like I'd adopted a whole herd in a single sitting. No lettuce leaves or cucumber crunch here, just pure, unadulterated meaty goodness. One thing to note: this isn't a salad, and it definitely doesn't contain potatoes. If you were hoping for a veg-heavy medley, keep looking. The only thing that could pass for a veggie in this scenario would be the occasional carrot that tried to sneak in, but even that was outshone by the meat's star performance. Overall, the ‘family pack' label is a delightful mystery that adds a pinch of existential dread to your dinner prep. It works fine in stew, it's tender enough to make you forget you ever questioned the family tree, and it delivers a protein punch that would make any gym-goer proud. Just don't expect potatoes, salad, or a family reunion on your plate.

I was reluctant to order this for delivery, thought it might have a lot of fat or in general not be quality meat. But - I was pleasantly surprised. I use it more often in fall and winter months. It cooks faster than a roast but is tender and has good flavor. I just put it in a crock pot with seasonings, celery, and minced garlic, let it cook awhile then add carrots, onion, and potatoes. Bake some biscuits, either canned or frozen - and tada - the house smells yummy and dinners ready!

This Ol' bachelor made a Vat-O-Stew for me and mine with the meat. Used a lot of the other products I rated and bought. Canned: peas, carrots, new potatoes, diced mushrooms, and; sliced celery stalks, green onions, whole white onions, sliced, minced garlic and beef bullion cubes and argus corn starch. That's a whole heck of a lot of other products plugged for "W"! Oh, and water from the tap! The only caution is make sure you really cook the meat a long, long time. Otherwise you'll be saying this old guy is nuts with his ratings for this meat.

I use this meat in my beef stew. I like that the chunks aren't so big that I have to cut each piece in half. This last batch I got did have a lot of fat, so that was disappointing. I used to make beef stew quite a bit, but the price prevents me from making that often.

Dissapointed.This had way too much gristle. The meat that didn't have gristle was good, however that was very few pieces. So not a very good value for money when you are throwing it away. I dredged it in flour and pre- cooked this in a pan. It was then cooking all day in a crock pot on low for 7/8 hrs.

Originally bought this to make stew, but so much of it was in tiny little pieces that I ended up cutting the few stew sized pieces of meat into smaller pieces and making vegetable beef soup instead. I should've read the reviews before I bought it because this seems to be a common issue..

Do not order this via delivery. Today is 10/25/2025. It’s obvious the product is within its expiration time. However, this meet is both brown and green. The smell is absolutely nauseating and I haven’t even opened the packaging. Why on earth would the picker select this? If you sent this to someone who literally didn’t know any better, you’re asking for them to get sick. Do better Walmart! Now, Walmart did refund me. That’s appreciated. But what good is a refund doing me to cook my dinner right now? I do delivery for the convenience and the need for it “right now”. So, now, I’m gonna have to change the menu completely or go to the store and repurchase. My local Walmart has got to get it together. This is simply unacceptable.

I’m very disappointed in this cut up beef stew! I paid $18. for almost 2 lbs. that’s taking me over an hour to cut up. At $9. and more a pound, I shouldn’t have to be doing this. That’s why I paid extra so it would be cut up. Very sad!!

typically, I expect a slight change in the amount that is normal but the quality regardless of what cow it came from should be the same, the last order must have been a upset cow in a crappy life because that was definitely some messed up meat she left behind!
