Belkin Wemo Smart Plug Mini, 3-Pack

I have Alexa (not HomeKit). After struggling to add a Wemo smart plug with my iPhone, I gave up and borrowed a friend's Galaxy. Was able to add the Wemo to the network using the Android phone and then was able to see the smart plug in the Wemo app on my iPhone. Everything worked easily after that.

We have a number of Amazon Echo-controlled Belkin smart switches in our home to control various lamps and even the Christmas tree lights as well as the electric train under the tree. The latest trick was addition of a switch to either bedside lamp. With an additional Echo Dot, we can now get snuggled in bed, get the covers all adjusted, and say, “Alexa, turn off Jill’s light” or “Alexa, turn on Jack’s light” without having to reach out from the covers. Awesome on cold nights!

I originally purchased Wemo just to turn on and off a set of greenhouse lights. Eventually I used it with an app to turn a stereo on when I received an important email. The sound associated with the email app was not enough to guarantee a wake up whereas this combination is.

I have a printer for my computer in another room which I had to go there to turn on. Now I use one of these Mini Smart Plugs and I can command it to turn on without getting up. Nice! I use another one for speakers. These are in addition to two older plugs I have for lights in my living room and bedroom. I haven't decided yet where to plug in my third Mini Plug.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have used the big Wemo Plug and Light Switch for almost 5 years. They work like a charm and easily integrates with Google Home. Its easy to program and easy to turn ON & off lights, TV, Water heater, space heater, etc.,

Two of the mini plugs took me a very long time to set up. I constantly had to reboot the app, plugs and my WiFi but eventually set up was successful. Wemo needs to fix the Wifi connectivity issues many reviewers have complained about. So far, everything is working fine. I will update if issues arise.

Love the size of these plugs and the setup is relatively easy. I was previously frustrated at performing firmware updates with the Belkin products and have found that this still is an issue. When trying to add all three plugs back to back, it allowed me to do the firmware update on the first plug but after adding the second two, it would not do the firmware update. I had to remove the 2 added plugs and re-add them again in order to get the firmware update needed to show up. My old Belkin switches were just as cumbersome. Having said all that, they are easily connected to both my HomeKit setup and my Alexa. Once added, they are a breeze to control and work every time.

I am 67 years old and had a heart transplant. It's difficult for me to bend over to turn my sub woofer on and off for my home theater As the switch is on the front right next to the floor. My new amp does not have an auxiliary Power input to turn the sub woofer on when I turn the amp on and the switch is on the front right next to the floor in the corner of the room and is difficult to get to. My Wemo allows me to automatically turn the sub woofer on when I normally watch TV and if I decide not to watch TV or I'm away from home I can turn it off. If I decide to watch TV earlier I just turned it on using the app on my phone or iPad. Since I have a Wemo ion most of my other appliances that I need to turn on and off automatically I am gifting the other two. I also have one that I purchased at a nationaly known warehouse outlet that I use in the curio cabinet but I keep forgetting to turn on and off every day. I turn it on early and turn it off late and with the low lumen LED light WeMo gives me a night light in my kitchen and family room for midnight snack runs!

The product took a while to setup due to the Apple Home setup. The code is on the back of the device and i could never get it to sync. Finally, I uninstalled Apple Home and was able to use the wifi setup as described in the instructions. Since then things have worked great.

These plugs look very simple to install. They are tricky. After an unsuccessful hour trying to get them to communicate with my home wifi, I gave up. I followed instructions. I force- quit.
