I always buy from Walmart online and I'm never disappointed!
I bought these training wheels honestly hoping they'd do till I could get some stronger ones. But surprise! These things work way better than the stiff ones. My daughter is able to lean into a turn and the coil bends with her and helps bring bike back up. Her bike is a 20 inch and they easily fit. It uses a clip to hold the wheels on, and after a month, there's no issues of any defects.
I saw a very bad review and was skeptical. These were the only training wheels I could find so I tried them anyway. They were very easy to put on and they work perfectly. They are quiet. The cheap plastic ones that come on a bike are so loud and rickety. They keep the bike steady and it is a smooth ride. My child was having a very difficult time learning to ride the bike and I think these have helped make it easier. Very happy with my purchase.
I love these training wheels, as with most additions after market, adjustments will have to be made to any product. I have a son who is 8 years old and has an Autism Spectrum Disorder, he has trouble with coordination and balance, and before I bought these training wheels he was unable to ride a bike, even with traditional training wheels that came with his bike. These really helps with stability and gives him the confidence to ride. This product literally brought me to tears- because for the first time, my son rode along side his brothers, with out falling over to one side and watching the other training wheels fold right underneath him(from leaning to one side). These actually make it difficult to lean to one side, because it is spring balanced and automatically correct for HIM. I could not be more happy, I actually have supplied a direct link to them here on walmart.com, to my fellow parents, on my facebook fan page, TwiceExceptionalKids.
I purchased these wheels for my twin boys first bike. I agree with the prior female reviewers who stated that the mounting point is too thick. However, the wheels do mount securely (having read the directions) with a secure circlip, after making a minor modification to the chain guard. And just as advertised they stay in contact with the road remarkably well and allow the rider to lean into turns. I must say these by far work much better than the old fashioned stiff trainers that allow the bike to wobble back and forth but do not allow the rider to lean into turns. The only complaint that I have about the product is that because of the spring action of the wheel they roll with a slight drag which ground the tire off the plastic wheel in no time and finding replacement wheels is not easy.
We bought these for our daughters 16" bike, before these we bought the Schwinn standard training wheels that are complete garbage and would not stay straight. I did have to cut a little bit of the chain guard to make these fit but it wasn't a big deal. Most of the negative reviews on here are due to fitment issues which aren't too hard to resolve if you have the means to notch the chain guard (I used the serrated blade on my Leatherman tool). I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the chain guard modification, these are really great training wheels that even adjust when the rider goes through a pothole or any other groove, this is very important if the bike, like most smaller bikes has coaster brake setup as the back tire always stays in contact with the ground giving the rider the ability to stop.
The nuts won't fit back on the axle due to the thickness of these training wheels. It seems like a real sturdy product and I like the spring action, however, they must be modified in order to properly install them. I had to replace the original bikes axle nuts with skinnier jam nuts (requiring a trip to the local hardware store) and grind the bracket arms to make them flat and thinner in order to install them. As this problem seems to be quite common amongst fellow reviewers it would seem that there should be some warning on the product packaging indicating that these will not most bikes. Also, the company that produces this item has nothing on their web site for this product at all!
There is nothing easy about them. They don't fit my girls 20" bike as well as any other size mentioned. I wish I would have seen this review before buying them. I too had to remove the side plate from the bike as well as the chain and they still did not fit. NOT WORTH BUYING AT ALL!!!!!!!
I bought the 20" girls slumber party bike for my daughter for christmas and latter found these training wheels and bought them at walmart and they dont fit,the frame of the training wheels are too thick to fit on the bike, the rear spoiler is too short to fit the training wheels;I found the other training wheels on the walmart online store, they are differnt and alot of people state that they dont fit either. I'm still looking for training wheels that will fit this bike. these training wheels might fit some bikes but before u buy them I would make shure they will fit ur bike.
Bought this 2 weeks ago and will be returning today. Nothing better than trying to teach your kids to ride a bike and have the training wheels always falling off. Nothing to hold the wheels in place, but a plastic cap that doesn't stay secure
