Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey® Non Dairy, 16 oz

Why I'm late to the party: I gave up on ice cream nearly 20 years ago. In a brief hiatus during the first few non-dairy years, I tasted Chunky Monkey which remained my greatest regret (that and Cherry Garcia) from leaving the frozen dairy case out of my grocery trips. No matter how many other companies tried, non-dairy ice cream was always an insult. So I never eat the stuff. Years later, as I'm convincing my son that life is not complete until he has tasted Chunky Monkey, I stumble upon non-dairy .. what did I just read?! Ben & Jerry got it perfectly balanced, über creamy - thank you for my favorite flavor!! Chunky Monkey, I'm back!

I am not an ice cream, lover for one I want to die after eating it ( i.e. Stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.) but when I saw this in my grocer freezer I was so excited to try it. I was not disappointed. Never have I eaten a whole pint of ice cream to myself. I'm 36 and I've never ever done this. The day I bought this ice cream, I did. I've bought 3 more pints since. It's so good! And the most amazing part after, was no bloating or stomach pain. Way to go Ben and Jerry's for seriously making a great tasting non dairy ice cream. That's not easy to do. I can not wait for the other new flavors to hit my grocer. Hoping they are gluten free since I am also allergic to wheat it seems like in my old age. :(

This stuff was amazing and didn't give me a tummy ache. It actually tasted good too. Better than the other dairy less ice cream brands I've tried. I would love a rocky road though....

I'm sensitive to many dairy products but ice cream is the one that realllllyyy doesn't agree with my stomach :( I was SO happy to find out you guys were making dairy free flavors so I could enjoy away without the consequences. However, I tried this flavor after the weird PB&Cookies combo and was so happy! I liked the chunks better and the flavors were clearly more cohesive. However, my pint was mostly sickenly sweet flavored banana ice cream- only a few chunks :'( Looking forward to trying the coconut 7 layer bar.

I bought this, only because it is impossible to find the original one in my area. It was okay, but the taste of the icecream was not the same, the chocolate chunks was not the same either. If you could just use the original recipe minus the dairy of course it would be a winner.

I was so excited when I saw Ben and Jerry's Dairy Free in the grocery store. I bought this Chunky Monkey and the PB and Cookies flavors. The PB was fantastic. The Chunky Monkey was just okay. I didn't hate the banana flavor like some other reviewers, but I wish there were more nut and chocolate chunks. It seemed disproportionate. The PB and Cookies flavor is the best though! I think I've purchased four pints of it in the past month. This one I probably wouldn't buy again (but I did still eat most of the pint).

Chunky Monkey used to be my absolute favorite flavor before I went vegan - the dairy free version is OK, but it seems as if there are less nuts in this one and it tastes more like sugar than banana. I am thrilled that B&J's are making dairy free flavors though, just can't wait till the flavors taste even more like "the real deal"

I feel misled. I bought two pints of this product as I was happy and excited to try this new vegan product. I love ice cream and was so happy to see a tasty vegan option. However, I was disappointed when I served myself a scoop. Everything was good and delicious until I bit down onto what I believe is a chocolate chunk. The chocolate chunks were hard and made eating the ice cream unpleasant. The product was advertised as having fudge chunks. What I was eating was far from fudge. Otherwise I enjoyed the ice cream.

While I hugely appreciate B&J's effort in producing vegan options, I found the ice cream in this flavour far too sugary (and yet the added chunks too plain and boring) for B&J's standards. You could also tell the presence of ice crystals, which I've never before experienced with B&J's. Am yet to find out whether other non-dairy flavours feature similar sugar & texture issues, and will surely keep trying, but this may be the first B&J's pint that I will never finish. SO grateful for many other amazing flavours out there, though.

I was not a fan of this flavor. The ice cream was way to sweet- the banana flavor tasted artificial.
