We're trying to eat healthy at our house, and one of the things that we're doing about that is to have more fruit. The easiest way for us to do that is to buy frozen fruit, but we have discovered that if it stays in the bag in the freezer, we tend to forget about it.
So we got some of these darling little containers, and now, when we get the new bag of fruit, we portion it out in these little containers. These are 8 ounces for liquids, but hold actually about 6 ounces by weight of fruit chunks or pieces, which is a perfect serving size.
They're also perfect to portion out fresh cherries, grapes, berries of any kind, or melon chunks.
Once filled, we screw the lids on; if it's frozen fruit we've just filled them with, we'll put some in the refrigerator to thaw, and the rest in the freezer. Then, each day as we eat a container of fruit, we take one out of the freezer to replace the thawed one we just ate from the refrigerator. If it's fresh fruit we've put in them, those usually just go into the 'fridge.
We've tried the deli style containers for this before, and they're great, but some of us have difficulty getting the lids off of those.
These little guys, though with the screw top lids, are easy for everyone in our house to get open. Besides that, they stack well, the way we like them to, and they're so pretty!
AND, now we actually eat the fruit, in good portions, instead of leaving it in the bag, in the freezer, to become encrusted in frost, and uneaten - win-win!
