More than likely more than needed. Will be fresh water fishing with this using mostly lures. Hopefully it will help get some distance. Definitely very well made.
I love the fact it has the backbone to put up with anything you catch at a reasonable price. The handle feels good in the hand not too bulky not too thin. I was blown away by the quality of the guides especially at that price point. The ease of use makes it a hidden gem.
I use these Berkley big game rods when catfishing or carp fishing. This was a "medium power" rod but is really quite heavy to be called medium. I put a Zebco 33 Max reel on this rod and would trust this set up to bring in 10lb fish consistently. It would tow in larger fish but that 33 Max reel wouldn't like repeatedly being used like that. The rod would easily tow in 10-15lb fish consistently. Great rods at Great prices.
I bought one two years ago. It has performed beyond my expectation. I decided to buy another one to go with the PENN casting reel that I also purchased recently through Walmart.
Always good service , availability and price
This is a Good strong rod for the price. Caught a 30lbs blue catfish the rod held up excellently.
The pole works well for casting heavy baits . works well for catching large fish without buckling to the pressure.
Whike the blank is described as MEDIUM, when I think of both a MEDIUM rod, plus a rod 7'6" long, this is more stout than I expected. This is much more like a medium heavy rod. Construction, fit, finish, and packaging are all fine. No damaged eyelets, no cracks or loose line inserts, etc. Built well for price. Bought for inshore saltwater casting and fishing lures, topwaters, etc. where while targeting trout and reds, its not exactly uncommon to have a shark or tarpon grab either the lure OR ambush a small one you are landing. Will edit this review once i get this on the water. My usual rods are Ugly Stik Tiger series, with spinning gear (Daiwa and Quantum). Wanted to try a baitcast setup so pairing this with a Tatula 200.
Reel seat is very tight needed to use a big tool to lossen it
This rod arrived broken due to the poor packaging for shipment. Good no back, is a Rod can't make it through the mail how will it hold up to a good sized fish?
