Bernat Softee Baby Yarn

I needed light weight yarn to make a baby dress for a friend and I came across Bernat Softee Baby. I love it! It drapes so beautifully and isn't too heavy for baby to wear. I will definitely be using this yarn again for more baby dresses, hats, and blankets in the future. The only issue I have is that it is hardly ever in stock in stores!

Very pleased with this purchase, have been using Bernat Softee Baby Yarn for several years and was so pleased that they have improved the way the yarn is wound, makes it so much eaiser to use and best od all no tangles!

This yarn is soft, light and perfect for your baby crochet projects. Works up super nice.

I love being able to buy exactly the kind of yarn I need for each project at reasonable prices. This is a plus for Walmart!

I ordered this for my wife. She crochets caps for new borns and prefers Bernat Softee Baby yarn. She found these skeins have thicker yarn. It isn't enough of a difference to deter her from using it; but, it is something that should be taken into consideration. I would have given the yarn all 5s except for this one manufacturing process of adding "sparkles".

This is a great yarn for baby items, as long as you start your project with the understanding that these types of yarn are known for splitting and/or pilling. I happen to like the slightly fuzzy effect and I crochet instead of knit, so this does not bother me. It drapes beautifully and is super soft without the scratchiness that you can get from certain other brands (Red Heart). I will say that I didn't like having to pay more than double the cost for a specific color I wanted (Prettiest Pink). That being said, the color wasn't even available at other arts and crafts stores.

This yarn is very soft. It's heavier than regular baby yarn. It's a #3, but it felt more like a #4 worsted weight. Great for blankets and items that don't need to be sized. I would be very careful to CHECK THE GAUGE of any sized items made with it.

I find the yarn separates making it difficult to grab the entire strand without catching your hook/needle on one of the individual strands of yarn. I have noticed this mostly with the Softee yarns. There needs to be less separation of the strands in order to not split the strands when using a crochet hook or knitting needle. In spite of that problem the yarn does make a good product if you are careful when using it. I can't recommend it for a large product as it gets quite frustrating using it.
