Bernat Softee Chunky Ombres Yarn (80G/2.8Oz), Summerset Ombre

I had some of this yarn from a couple of years ago and thought that I would order more to continue make an afghan. I was worried the dye lot would be different and it was fine but the wool is now 11% thicker - so note that if you are using it with old yarn of this type (I think I probably bought the old stuff about 2013). I had been using double thickness and now that was too thick, so I had to undo and go with single thickness with the new yarn. Anyway, it's a nice colour and although it's only acrylic, I am happy with the result.

Easy to work with.

I bought 9 balls and they arrived well packed. The colour is consistent between each ball but it doesn't look very much like faded denim, more like a royal blue. It's fine, I was just expecting maybe more of a greyer blue. Overall I'm very well pleased with the price, the delivery and packaging, and the product.

First of all, I think it's fantastic that walmart still stocks yarn because many department stores do not. Especially good yarn like bernat softee chunky. Now about the yarn: this isn't a true "chunky" yarn" it's a bit thin to knit up on big needles but definitely thick enough to knit up warmer than a worsted. I bought it in bright pink and the colors shown on the website are very true. Definitely will order more, love love love!!!!! First I am an absolute beginner at knitting, so I have tried various yarns to see what works good for me. Bernat and more specifically the softee chunky is by far the easiest I have found, plus it has a nice color selection. It knits up nicely and to me is a bargain

As far as acrylic yarn goes. I like using this one. It's not itchy and it's thick and quick. Superbulky 6. Knitting and crochet hook 8mm machine wash and dry. I wouldn't dry it. I just would rather air dry it. The ball has about 99 m on it so it is kind of small. You need a lot of balls. We all need a lot of balls. Lol

I enjoyed crocheting a pair of slippers for hubby with this Color. It knits and crochets like a desert camo, and he was super impressed. He says the slippers are super warm and great for the cold winter mornings here in Canada. My 2 sons now want slippers with this yarn as well as apparently it's “super cool”.

We ordered this yarn in order to complete a project. We were pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be from the same dye lot that we had on hand. Anyone who uses yarn will understand the importance of this. The order was shipped to our store promptly and arrived earlier than promised. The project has been successfully finished.

Colour is true but texture is much harder than I thought. Not soft at all. More rope like

After loving Bernat Bulky yarn, I decided to give this one a go to make a scarf I could work up quickly. The yarn is not as soft as the bulky, and as I got the type that incorporates different colours, the threads separate very easily. As with all the Bernat products though, I find their colour range the best and their price cannot beat.
