Fresh out of the package these lighters work fine. The strong hot flame easily light the fatwood fire starters in my wood stove. But if you're buying this lighter because it's refillable, don't waste your money. Once it runs out of butane you can throw it away. The first time I bough one, I purchased a butane refill at the same time. When it ran out of fuel I refilled it but it wouldn't light, so I bought a new lighter. When the new lighter ran out of fuel, I refilled it. Wouldn't light. Bought a new lighter. Refilled it. Wouldn't light. Bought new...They're great when they're new!
I'll never buy another. Garbage. Go rub 2 sticks together. Mine lasted a year and I only used it to light my smoker.
Thought I'd buy a nicer, refillable click lighter for use with my grill. It worked twice over a ~two-week span but I haven't been able to get it to light thereafter. I store it in a kitchen drawer and have confirmed there is plenty of butane in the lighter so it's unclear why it stopped working. Disappointing
I bought two of these lighters because I use one and so I would have an extra backup for my truck tool-kit. I seldom used the lighter because the safety switch makes it a pain in the buttocks to turn on. Well, on a recent camping trip I went to use the brand new one in the truck and it wouldn't light. Not even if I held a match to the front of it. The piezo is what went bad on the one that I used but this one has to have a plugged or stuck valve. Why does bernzomatic put their name on this useless crap???
this was my 2nd unit. The first one lasted for a few years, but this second one has become hard to light or when lit, the flame is non-existent. It is fully fueled and I've shaken it to vaporize the fuel with no luck. It seems many other reviewers report a similar issue. It's not rocket science to combine fuel with air and an ignition source.....or maybe it is?
I bought 5 lighters and 5 refill cans as Christmas gifts. The lighters do not light easily nor does the flame stay lit easily. The product gives Bernzomatic a bad reputation.
Had this lighter for about about 8 months or so until it stopped working. Got it because I like the torch lighters for lighting charcoal and fire starters, it was seemed great because it was refillable which is hard to find in lighters nowadays. After 6 months or so the little metal wire across the opening melted but it kept working, then recently it just died and went work anymore, which stinks. It worked great until it died. But the fact that the metal wire melted speaks to cheap construction and materials of it can't withstand the temperature of the lighter, like building a car where the windshield breaks if you go over 30mph. Knowing that it will die in less than a year I probably won't get another one, gas station lighters last longer.
I use lighters to light our paper trash in a burner. I thought this would be a responsible way to save throwing away lighter after lighter. The lighter worked through the first fill of fuel, but then would not work. It seems to be the "flint" or spark that is not working. What a waste. Now I have a can of fuel I can't use, and an expensive lighter that won't work.
Doesn't work for long, flame is puny and goes out too easily. Before even refilling, it stopped working. It sparks and gas is flowing but it doesn't ignite. Interesting that most of the reviews for these lighter are poor on Benzomatic's own website. Maybe they need to revisit the design and make it work. Reading the reviews, the "premium" one doesn't seem any better.
Bought flexible lighter LTR200 a year or so ago. Used it 2-3 times max. Full of fuel, but no longer lights. Very disappointing product. Appears that other folks had the same issue. Company should remove product from the market. Seriously taints the Bernzomatic name. Personally, don't see myself getting one of their products again.
